Read first book of the Night's Dawn trilogy twice -- one of only 2 books read twice -- but could not get in to the 2nd one.

The Science Fiction writer Peter F Hamilton (of the Nights Dawn trilogy, great fun) enjoyed the new series of Foundation as I did. Like Peter says they've taken the base text and 'run with it'
He also gives an update as to what he's been up to

Asort-of end of the year update.
I normally don't do reviews, but I've just finished the latest season of Foundation, and really
enjoyed it. It does have a few names and themes from the Asimov books, but the producers
have taken those and run with it. They've also spent a lot of money, and the visuals show
that. I'm going to be interested to see where they finish up.
Also, just started Pluribus. Three episodes in, and again, keen to see where that's going.
I've just spent weeks -feels longer- reading through proofs. Always the part of the
publishing process | can live without, but it's got to be done. First off was The Helium Sea,
which was the galley proof, that is the layout that's going to be printed. This is the last
chance to correct anything, so it has to be a thorough read, not a skip-through. Thankfully
Del Rey has done a good job as usual, so there were very few typos, and not one continuity
error -that | could find. But given the size of the manuscript it took a while. Never mind, |
thought, once it's done | can go back to writing. Then just before | finished, Angry Robot
sent me the copy edit for volume 2 of the Arkship trilogy, The Captain's Daughter; that's the
stage before the galley proof. It still needs a fairly intense read through. Again there were
few mistakes, but it took time.
They're now both finished and returned to their respective publisher. To recap, The Helium
Sea will be coming out on June 16th, and The Captain's daughter June 9th next year. (And
no, | don't know when the Exodus game is being released. Maybe they'll announce it at the
Game Awards tomorrow)

So now, finally, I'm back writing Heavy Light again. This is a novel in an entirely new
universe. Itis very SF, but more thriller than space opera -I'm sure marketing will have their
own opinion on that. Given that I'm having four books published in 2026, it should be
coming out in 2027.

So have yourselves a grand Christmas and New Year, and I'll be back here in January.

Peter F. Hamilton’s Night’s Dawn Trilogy: The Reality Dysfunction, The Neutronium Alchemist, and The Naked God. At the top of all three, white uppercase text reads: “BRITAIN’S NUMBER ONE SCIENCE FICTION WRITER.” Below, the author’s name, PETER F. HAMILTON, dominates the center in metallic, beveled lettering with a blue-gray gradient, followed by the individual book titles in bold white sans-serif capitals.
The first cover, The Reality Dysfunction, uses a predominantly teal and deep blue palette. A massive spaceship dominates the foreground, illuminated by reflected planetary light. Behind it, a gas giant and fragments of debris hover in space, bisected by thin white lines suggesting motion or energy. The quote from The Times below reads, “Hamilton puts British Science Fiction back into interstellar overdrive.”
The second cover, The Neutronium Alchemist, shifts to fiery orange and gold tones. A colossal, damaged spacecraft floats near a glowing planet surrounded by haze. Two smaller ships or escape pods drift nearby, adding a sense of scale and desolation. A blurb from SFX describes it as “A real page-turner.”
The third cover, The Naked God, returns to cooler blues and silvers. A futuristic city arcs across a planetary surface beneath a transparent dome, with starships flying above and beyond the horizon. The bottom quote reads, “The trilogy is an amazing piece of work. A masterpiece perhaps.” from SFReviews.com.

Short discussion.

Person 1: "Yes he writes long novels with many subplots that all come together. | enjoyed them all. Personally I'd start with Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained as they are just fantastic adventures."

Person 2: "| really enjoyed these books. The main character, Enzyme Bonded Concrete, is probably my favorite protagonist of all time."

The cover of the book.

An insectoid-looking organic spacecraft is flying in front of a much larger "traditional" spaceship that is larger than the image and disappears far out of shot. In the background there is a red sun.

Alright alright alright, hopefully is landing fully intact this year.

Some original ex Bioware Mass Effect devs and at least one writer, with Matthew McConaughey voice acting. Fingers crossed Exodus lives up to its spiritual predecessors!

I loved but recent news suggests isn't in great shape and there won't be a new game any time soon.

#Orthography: #Dysfunciton or #Dysfuntion?

I haven't read it, so I don't know if there is a deeper meaning, but if you do an image search for the cover image of Peter F. Hamilton's "The Reality Dysfunction", the first row of my first results page shows at least two with a spelling error: One says "Dysfuntion", and one reads "Dysfunciton".
Weirdly, both Audible and libro.fm show the image with the "Dysfunciton" misspelling on their website.

Anyone read or recently started reading “Great North Road”
Peter F. Hamilton? I’m trying to put a name to a novel I read some years back, possibly this one:

Before the #Newcastle bit, does it start out in #Dundee? Minor spoiler to follow about the Dundee bit

This scenario is actually a chapter in #salvation , a sci-fi book by #PeterFHamilton Spoiler alert, the inevitable chaos that results spawned a govt with structure and order. The difference is the fictional world leaders were able to exile the “amatuers” so they can learn that lesson without causing harm to innocent citizens.

@Thebratdragon @auguryignored I think Peter F. Hamilton announced a new project that is due this year.

(He also confirmed sequels to the salvation-sequence, im very excited)

I finished Salvation Lost over the weekend. Really great second entry. Did not repeat the same structuring as the first book, which I appreciate actually. Still genuinely impressed by how well some of the horror was pulled off.
