🧩🔢 Apparently, the nerd safari over at "Open Problems in Computational Geometry" has been tirelessly cataloging unsolved math mysteries since 2001. With a whopping 75+ problems, they now eagerly await your Pull Requests to update their existential crisis board. Because, who wouldn't want to spend their free time proving that math still doesn't make sense? 🤷‍♂️💻

"Pull Requests create blocking problems as people wait for approvals or merges. This has yielded many new experiments and practices—async pull requests, ephemeral PR environments, and byzantine branching strategies.

I can't help but wonder if we're spiraling toward complexity here for no good reason."

"Often the standards in our chosen medium are so ubiquitous, we take them for granted. They are invisible and unquestioned. This makes it nearly impossible to think outside the standard paradigm."

Pull request reviews are like group therapy in the best case, like group insanity in the worst.
Kindness lets you resolve both cases.

"Our analysis of objective data led to the conclusion that a high number of changed lines of code tends to increase the review duration with a reduced number of messages, while the number of involved teams, locations, and participant reviewers generally improve reviewer contributions, but with a severe penalty to the duration."

Another one bites the dust.

If you think anyone at Mastodon cares about getting quality contributions, I've got a bridge to sell to you.

I found a simple way to make pull requests on #GitHub more visually clear: Take a screenshot of your UI before and after changes, then place them in a table using Markdown like this: 🖼️✨

Before | After
-|-
![](imgBefore) | ![](imgAfter)

Just put `|` between the images and `-|-` to separate the header. ⚡️🛠️

Check out a PR where I used this:👇

A screenshot that says;

"Also... Does anybody have any comments on these monster PR's ?

Speak now, or else it will get deployed to production 👀 😂"

Screenshot of a GitHub repository page showing recent commits and pull requests for the VernissageApp project. Three pull requests have been merged (submitted by user named pylapp and merged by user named mczachurski) and were about improvements of English and French localizations.

Interesting, there is a tool which can check for GitHub forge if in pull requests there are some checkboxes, e.g. tasks or prerequisites, filled or not so as to prevent the merge. Very simple to use, easy to integrate, written in JavaScript and under MIT license.
