Including a mountain hut with vibes!

A large, old mountain hut on the Rax plateau in the Eastern Alps. It was here that Dr. Sigmund Freud once found important inspiration for the development of his psychoanalysis. I survived my very first tour!!! I planned a fairly challenging hike that is currently impossible to complete without snowshoes. And I wanted to avoid heavy touring skis and ski boots for once. It was great!

What is already a long, demanding hike in summer feels like a grueling expedition through the eternal ice in fresh snow and on snowshoes. Due to the short days, we treated ourselves to the luxury of taking Austria's oldest cable car up to an altitude of 1,500 meters early in the morning. From there, the trail leads relatively flat to a viewpoint overlooking an impressive gorge and the surrounding mountains. Then down through paths in the forest, and steeply up again through an awe-inspiring high rock face. Over a ridge, the trail continues south for a longer stretch, then down a steeper mountain path to a mountain hut that is always closed in winter. From there, a very pleasant but also challenging path leads down into the valley, about 1,600 meters down. At dusk, we had to hurry to catch the very last bus that took us to the more distant train station. It was close! And what an adventure!

Yesterday, in the at approx. 2,000 m, with 1,600 m EG. In , it was foggy and cold, but on the , there was a bright blue sky with no wind and temperatures between 8 and 12°C. Not a soul in sight, wonderful silence. At the , it was so overwhelmingly beautiful that it took the greatest willpower to leave at all. Descent in the dark, on a steep snowy and icy path. With good crampons, of course.

last Friday: Hike'n'Run over the , with great views of & , with 1,300 m EG. Partly through 20-50 cm deep snow. 1h steep descent through the dark forest – not ideal if you don't have a headlamp with you. The best thing about the tour: easily accessible from , and the start/finish is right on the train platform!

During the ascent, you have a beautiful view of the Rax massif, 2,007 m. There is snow at the top. Blue sky.View of the valley and neighboring mountains. 2 days ago, I escaped the fog in . In the Alps, the sky was bright blue. I climbed the very exposed Haid-Steig with 420 m EG. The start is at 1,400 m. Towards the end, it became dangerous in an unsecured passage without any handholds; one slip and I would have been in the valley faster than I would have liked. The most interesting passage led through a long, deep crack. In the first picture, you can see a 15-m ladder leading there.

Zur Entspannung ein #Gleitschirm Foto aus der #Steiermark. Der Kollege hat das #Mürztal entlang Richtung #Stuhleck , #Rax und #Schneealpe gefilmt. Unter ihm sind die #Windräder vom #Windpark #Stanglalm und vom Windpark #Hochpürschtling . Der Schirm in der linken oberen Ecke wurde von mir pilotiert. Die #Wolken waren ungefähr auf 2500 Meter über dem #Meer . War ein echt #schönerTag zum #Paragleiten heuer Ende April.

On the descent into the valley, I saw a Spanish flag / Jersey tiger (Euplagia quadripunctaria)! It is poisonous to birds, and when threatened, it shows it with its colorful hind wings.

The finale: swimming in an old-fashioned outdoor pool from 1928!

A large mountain hut sits enthroned on a hilltop. The slopes are rocky, but also covered with thick grass and low mountain pines. The sky clouds over, but the blue still shimmers through.On an old wooden table stands a glass of apple juice and a small plate with chocolate zucchini cake. Out of focus in the background is a view of the surrounding mountains. Through the closing cloud cover, a light show of sunbeams appears.Looking back at the mountain hut, which is now about 100 m below. The sun's rays create a beautiful light through the broken cloud cover. The grass in the foreground shimmers golden yellow, the low mountain pines glow green in the backlight. In the background, a wild scene of mountain peaks.At dusk, four chamois stand on a rocky ledge and look at me. They don't seem particularly skittish, but decide to move on anyway. Sunrise in the mountains, currently at around 5:30 a.m. A blanket of fog hangs over the valley. The sun is visible at the same height as the summit of the Schneeberg, 2,079 m. The layer around it is reddish. Above it is the pale blue morning sky.
