pretty impressive that #Xash3D runs inside my #ReactOS Server VM with OpenGL.. I double clicked the executable for the game by accident and just started the hazard course to see what happens.

http://reactos.la10cy.net also now got an update after a long time, running now stable with #ReactOS 0.4.15-rel1 from March 2025.
The nightlies from the past days wont boot after installing them to disk, it just crashes with a bluescreen :(
And unfortunately I am also not able to run the latest #Xash3D version from the continuous builds. They will crash with 'IsThreadFibre' cannot be located in KERNEL32.dll >_>
So I have to run a version from 2024 which I still had.

Здравствуйте, дорогие друзья! Кто давно следит за развитием проекта, помнит, что одним из больных мест ReactOS была поддержка USB. При тестировании на реальном железе с большой вероятностью система выпадала в BSOD из-за USB-драйверов. Даже если вы использовали PS/2 мыши/клавиатуры, то простое подключение/отключение флешки могло "уронить" систему. Но, недавно, разработчик @The_DarkFire __ внёс ряд исправлений в USB-драйвера, которые исправляют данные проблемы с USB в ReactOS на реальном оборудовании!

Fun fact! There is a #FOSS (free and open source) #operatingSystem called #ReactOS, which is designed specifically to be able to run #Windows applications and also to look and feel like Windows. It has been around for many years and is still being developed, even quite seriously with some funding.
Of course, its funding and its development crew are minute compared to Windows, so it is still an unfinished project and you should expect less polish. That being said, many things already work and you can try it out in a #virtualMachine. This page has a lot of useful information and links, including about limitations:
