πŸ“Έ A Beautiful Trifid
Red emission. Blue reflection. Dark dust. The Trifid Nebula (M20) in Sagittarius blends all three. Star formation shapes its glowing clouds, while dark lanes split the red core into three parts. A cosmic gem, 5,000 light-years away.

A deep-space image of the Trifid Nebula (M20), a vibrant and complex star-forming region. The nebula shows bright red emission areas, blue reflection zones, and dark dust lanes. The red region is roughly divided into three parts by dark clouds, giving the nebula its β€œtrifid” name. Above and to the right, sculpted pillars and jets shaped by young stars are visible. The entire nebula spans about the size of a full moon in Earth’s sky and is surrounded by faint stars against the backdrop of the Milky Way.

A couple of nights ago I let my #Dwarf3 stay out all night with a stellation mask, which bagged me about 8 hours worth of #Antares , #Messier4 , and other goodies, including the Antares #ReflectionNebula.

I ran it through the #DwarfLab #StellarStudio tools, and then did a bit more cleanup in #Snapseed and #GooglePhotos - about 15 minutes work.

I'm pretty darned pleased with the results.

A bright red star with eight rays shooting out from it is just to the right of the top centre. In the extreme top left is an almost circular tight cluster of stars. Below the big red star is a red-orange cloud of nebula.

vdB141 / Sh2-136: The Ghost Nebula

Spooky shapes in a large swathe of the Cepheus Flare molecular cloud about 1120ly distant. Towards the bottom is Sh2-136: The Ghost Nebula, a reflection nebula and Bok globule star-forming region.

The Iris Nebula

NGC7023 aka the Iris Nebula is a reflection nebula 1300 light-years away in Cepheus, about 6 light-years across.

It's particularly impressive caught in the middle of LDN1170, the large swathes of brown dust swirling around.

vdB14 and vdB15, Camelopardalis

A couple of new reflection nebulae I'd not encountered before.
Over the course of 3 nights I shot about 30 hours' data, from which I kept 20.9hr spanning both neodymium and dual-narrowband filters, stacked and blended to make this little beauty.
