"AI" (clickbait llm companies), cloudflare, docker, nfts, cryptocurrencies(with extremely minor caveats), cloud storage, flatpack, saas, etc... Are all the same disease to the computation ecosystem. Hardware must be subservient to software else it is a tool against users instead of for users. We are losing the pressure to develop software that undsrstands the hardware it relies on and pressuring hardware to be usuable by out of house developers. We are bowing when we should be punching. To be clear, you do not control software on hardware you can't touch. You can't trust how your software is being interpreted if you can't check the interpretation. Fight the corpos, fight the binary blobs, fight the containers, or surrender to centralization.

See!? All that stress and fuss for nothing. If you're on Windows 10, you've got another year to figure things out. Who knows, Microsoft may even extend it again.

So now you have time to buy that Windows 11 compliant DRM machine to go all-in on that CoPilot Ai surveillance, or plan for a more private alternative, like Linux maybe!

Do you want your #government to see and know everything about you? #palantir does, and they have built the tools to track your every move, post, and all your friends - The company’s software enables law enforcement and government analysts to connect vast, disparate datasets, build intelligence profiles and search for individuals based on characteristics as granular as a tattoo or an immigration status. It transforms historically static records – think department of motor vehicles files, police reports and subpoenaed social media data like location history and private messages – into a fluid web of intelligence and surveillance. These departments and agencies use Palantir’s platform to assemble detailed profiles of individuals, mapping their social networks, tracking their movements, identifying their physical characteristics and reviewing their criminal history. #Surveillance #SurveillanceState #GovernmentOverreach #privacy #RightToPrivacy #anonymity #RepublicansDidThis #GOP

"Anyone entering the US—from citizens to temporary visa holders—can potentially have their phones or electronics searched by CBP staff. Across the country, border zones typically fall outside of Fourth Amendment protections that require warrants for devices to be searched by officials."

"Phone searches at the US border hit a record high: Customs and Border Protection agents searched nearly 15,000 devices from April through June of this year, a nearly 17 percent spike over the previous three-month high in 2022."

In a continuing shocker, #Germany, who are one of #America's big cyber-war allies, is passing a law to block street-level #Police from using the same military-grade #NetworkIntrusion tools as #USArmyCyberCommand and our German allies are using against state threats.

I just deleted my old Facebook account. I hadn't used it for a long time, but I was missing the final step, and I finally did it this morning. A few months ago, I also deleted a photography account I had on Instagram and permanently canceled my Adobe software subscription. I don't like the decisions big tech companies have made in recent years regarding privacy and the requirement to use their servers, cloud services, and subscriptions for often pointless things. I'll have to make further progress in the future, but I'm on the right track.
I hope for a freer, more egalitarian, and more aware world!

@Nonilex Isn’t this what the NRA railed against?

There’s only a hairs-breadth difference between this database and a gun-ownership database, which supposedly would have the right up in arms (literally)

Starting July 1, 2025, Indian Railways plans to make Aadhaar mandatory for Tatkal ticket bookings. This alarming move threatens fundamental rights, privacy, and digital inclusion — all under the guise of preventing ticket fraud.

FSMK strongly condemns this invasive and disproportionate step.

Access to public transport should NEVER come at the cost of your biometric data.

This isn’t getting enough attention.

“Unless Palantir commits to meaningful human rights due diligence, the public will have every reason to remain skeptical of its claims to corporate responsibility.”
