- the clubs page got a redesign towards a table group by country
- new European #RuckClub in Sweden, France, and Austria plus their weekly events
- #GORUCK reconstructed their sign up process for events back to the legacy approach over #sandlot. This makes hunting for their events much easier and first #scraper implemented

Time to do an #introduction:

I am here sharing my favorite #exercise method: #rucking including #ruckPT and/or #sandbag #WOD.

I am currently training for #GoRuck #fitness events at the end of May in #Normandy #France.

Among other things, I am building a website to help new people to rucking find local #RuckClub|s| and/or #ruck specific events. Currently the focus is for the #DACH region.

The last couple of days I have been working on slowly building up the #rucking community within the #fediverse. By first creating a rucking focused account (#mastodon): @rucking and later creating a community (#lemmy): @rucking

The #rucking presence on #mastodon isn’t as big as by other social media platforms. To change this I have decided to summon @rucking into existence.

The initial focus of the account is to share DACH based news and larger European based events like #goruck challenges. A highlight for next year is the 80 year anniversary of D-Day in Normandy in the beginning of June. Best to plan to take a week off for that. The 75a anniversary was already epic and this time they are bringing the #selection to Europe.

What is #GORUCK?

GORUCK is a company that is trying to popularize the #rucking sport.

How does GORUCK try to popularize rucking?

They try to do this in three main ways:

1. They offer equipment and apparel to ease your rucking experience.
2. They offer events where Cadre from various U.S. special forces areas lead events with a core focus on rucking.
3. They offer the idea of #community to create #RuckClub s.

These three ways interlink with one another by having the community keeping you in check of your basic fitness level and giving you resources to prepare for the next event.

The events teaching you various skills that you can use outside of the sandbox event experience from mental fortitude to #TeamWork and #leadership skills. Where as the apparel and equipment marketed as the ideal gear for such events.

And apparel and gear being worn by the participants while being freely marketed by them as well.

Caveat: the apparel and gear is quite pricey though it has lifetime warranty.

Each footwear has its pros and cons and best is to figure out what you like.

I base the choice on the terrain, the load, the distance, and duration.

When doing mountainous terrain or heavy load (30# or more) or long distances (half a marathon or more) or doing 6h or more, I choose my 6 inch #Haix boots.

When doing shorter or lighter either #VivoBarefoot shoes or just #BareFoot.

Most of the others in our #RuckClub use sneakers/gym shoes or ankle high boot.
