Nach langer Suche habe ich endlich S3 cloudstorage Client Software gefunden, die macht, was ich brauche.
Für Linux ist es #rclone mit dem rclone browser und für grapheneOS ist es #exfilac.
Hauptproblem mit anderer Software war die Konfiguration des Zugriffs auf alternative storage Anbieter (statt #AWS). Bei den beiden Tools funktioniert es. Für Linux würde ich mir wünschen, daß #beyondcompare endlich alternative S3 storage Anbieter unterstützt 🤨

Was empfiehlt sich als #S3Storage für die Mediendateien von Mastodon?
Contabo hatte ich früher, ist aber dafür nicht geeignet, zu langsam und unzuverlässig. Speicherung der Daten auf jeden Fall in Europa (EU).
Gibt es hier noch weitere Adminys, die #S3Storage von #Contabo verwenden?
Der Zugriff kommt mir seit Tagen sehr langsam vor, de facto unbenutzbar.

Wer einen #S3Storage sucht (z.B. für Server mit Mastodon, Pixelfed, Calckey, Nextcloud), kann nach meiner Erfahrung einen Blick auf Contabo werfen, einen recht günstigen Anbieter.
Bisher habe ich nur eine Inkompatibilität festgestellt: FileZilla Pro kommt mit Contabo S3 Storage nicht zurecht. Bei Nextcloud 26.0.0 und der Erweiterung für externen Speicher hatte ich auch Probleme, aber die sind inzwischen (ich setze jetzt NC 26.0.2 ein) behoben.
Die Einrichtung in Pixelfed und Calckey war etwas aufwendig, aber ich habe das Vorgehen in meinem Blog beschrieben:

Contabo bietet S3 Storage in Europa an, und die Preise sind inklusive des ein- und ausgehenden Traffics, was unliebsame Überraschungen verhindert. Berechnet wird der Speicherplatz je angefangene 250 GB (die automatische Anpassung der Größe jeweils in Schritten von 250 GB lässt sich abschalten).
Ein Backup der Daten findet nicht statt, wer also versehentlich etwas löscht oder überschreibt, kann diese Daten nicht wiederherstellen.

#contabo I like this hoster. It is cheap if you dont need support and do your backups yourself, but their cloudstorage as #s3storage only is just too limited for my use cases. Where can you really integrate a Non-Posix Filesystem properly. I appreciate more #hetzner approach where you can at least use #NFS #smb and #ssh to connect to your data.
Kennt wer wo was schnelleres als s3fs/goofys? #S3storage
After running my #singleUser #mastodon instance for just over a week, here are some of my observations;
- my basic server set-up on DigitalOcean is creaking but seems to be hanging on in there
- 1GB RAM is constantly at around 90% use
- Storage has slowly filled up to around 75% of the disk
Seriously considering migrating to use #pleroma as it’s a lot less resource hungry. Also probably gonna have to plump for #s3Storage for media, but hopefully shouldn’t be too costly given my needs.
