We went back to the Domes today for the bonsai show and it was lovely!

I did NOT know that people could grow bonsai from seeds or young trees, I thought they had to be purchased fully grown. I know almost nothing about them.

I learned a fair bit today and I would love to join our local bonsai club. It might be a problem, given that my body responds poorly to the sun, but apparently some bonsai can be grown indoors.

I’m so happy. I’ve been interested in growing one since I was a teenager.

Emerson and I saw model trains at the Mitchell Park Domes yesterday!!

We’re gonna come back later today for the bonsai show. I love bonsai and have wanted one since I was a teenager. I don’t think I will be able to buy one, but at least I will be able to see some!

I was waiting for the bus at Boiceville in a heavy snowfall at Boiceville two Thorsdays ago

I had a fun day with Emerson today.

He convinced me to leave the house and we ran errands while playing this weirdly Christian questions game designed for kids. It started with a question like “if you could design the tastiest sandwich ever made, what would that sandwich be” and by the time we’d gone through all of the questions, Emerson had had to skip around a dozen questions because of how damn preachy they all were. That game escalated quickly.

I don’t mind the occasional Jesus-related question. Hell, I’ll even discuss the Bible with Christians because I find a lively informed debate energizing and fun. But a bunch of questions along the lines of “if you could enter one Bible story, what would it be?”

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh……..

No.

I’ve been there, done that, got the T shirt from my time as a Mormon and all the soul searching I did afterwards. I’m good. I’m a fan of Jesus as he’s portrayed in the Bible, but his father and fandom have a lot to answer for before I’m going to be okay with most Christian shit.

More to the point, this is a game designed for kids. What is this, How To Indoctrinate Your Kids 101??

We did get some funny answers out of it. Like my answer to the question “what is something that you don’t need but your life is much better because you have it?” or however it was phrased was simply “BEANS” referring to the cats because we were parked close to our apartment at the time. I took a video of Emerson imitating me with additional dramatic flair and that is making the rounds all over social media now, as best I can tell.

I’m pretty tired, so I’m gonna wander off now.

G’night everyone!!

**Stella & Finn (see above) is now available FOR FREE!**

For at least the following 24 months, you can read the whole story, in all its PDF or ePub glory, *without spending a penny.* *You are free to download and enjoy NOW*!

Or, if you want, set a voluntary payment, which I would appreciate very much and would help me a lot in making even better stuff for you all to enjoy, like, who knows... a new *drawing tablet* for upcoming comics! See my Ko-fi goal for more on that :) - ko-fi.com/wallabra

The context, before anyone asks, is that I'm about to enter a public office and I can't really engage in commercial activity, due to a strict anti-Conflict-of-Interest clause. To someone else, this might be a bit disheartening, but I never really wanted to see my art as a "job" in the first place anyway, so it's whatever :p

#Wss366 Chair

“Psst! Is it all clear?” Clair asked. Her ghostly nightgown fluttered in the dark school hallway. It would have been disturbing to the other two girls, except they had more realistic fears: the headmistress.

“Yes, Mademoiselle D’Arcy is having fun with the servant,” Melissa replied, peeking out of her room.

The third girl’s, Eva’s, voice trembled as she spoke. “I’m not sure we should do this.”

“Then go to your room, scaredy-cat,” Clair said, shoving her.

Eva glanced back at the safety of her room and said, “They say the #chair is haunted. It can talk, and it will grab you somewhere it shouldn’t if you sit in it.”

“Scaredy, scaredy, scaredy-cat,” the other two chanted.

Cowed, Eva trailed the other two as they headed toward the headmistress’s room.

The hallway was dark and silent. The portraits lining the corridor frown down at them, lit only by their solitary candle. Each line on the painted faces seemed to communicate their disapproval of the girls’ late-night adventure.

The two minutes it took to reach the rear of the building felt like an eternity, but they arrived undiscovered.

Melissa peered into the headmistress’s moonlit parlor and reported on the #chair they’d come to see. “It looks like a man.”

“Sit in it,” Clair ordered, pushing Melissa into the room.

“No, YOU do it,” Melissa responded. “Or are you scared?” Her pale face, illuminated by the moonlight, was pulled tight with fear.

“No, I’m not,” Clair said. She walked across the room and sat in the #chair. “It’s hard and didn’t grab me. See nothing...”

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!” a voice said.

The three girls shrieked and ran toward the door, only to plow into Lady D’Arcy and Sir James.

I want to rework #PhoenixBorn so it ties into #SliceOfLife because it doesn't right now.

Behold, the completed Yeti Wooble! 🧶
Brannagh kept batting him off the bookcase, so I modified the pattern and added legs to make the body more stable/ less easy to roll around. I also added texturing loops to give it a little more visual interest as well.

A crochet yeti Wooble sits atop a wooden bookcase beside three wooden trees.

I wanted to do more today, but showering and being out in the sun yesterday took me out.

I did revive Eight’s and Laz’s Death bit on Reels and TikTok though and watch more of the very interesting show The Three Body Problem.

Star-Cross Cookies: Part 3

#FanFiction #AscendanceOfABookworm
#Wss366 recreate/re-create

Armed with Carnelia’s name, Rozemyne headed to the library, much to the dismay of her chief maid, Lieseleta. Rihyarda could have handled it, but Lieseleta lacked the experience and gravitas to control Rozemyne when she was fired up.

"Lady Carnelia!" Rozemyne shouted, bursting into the reading room the girl was using.

Lieseleta said just loud enough for the Aub to hear, “At least give her a proper greeting.”

“Of course,” Rozemyne replied.

“May I pray for a blessing in appreciation of this serendipitous meeting, ordained by the harsh judgment of Ewigeliebe, Lady Carnelia?” Rozemyne rushed through her greeting.

“You may.” The lady in question spoke barely loud enough to be heard and trembled like a winter leaf, which wasn’t surprising, given that the Aub had addressed her so suddenly.

“I need something red, romantic, and heart-shaped,” Rozemyne said.

“You might want to explain a bit,” Lieseleta said. She was overstepping herself, but the poor woman Rozemyne was addressing looked bewildered and on the verge of fainting in fright.

“Sorry, I want something to use with cookies for Star-Cross Day. Something other than those dreadful bugs! I don’t see how anyone could think coach beetles were romantic.”

Lady Carnelia stared, and then, as the word "romantic" sank in, she began to think. Her brows furrowed, and then a smile touched her lips. "There's the 'desert heart.' They have red, heart-shaped leaves and a mild, pleasant flavor. Perhaps you’ve had tea made from them.”

Rozemyne’s eyes grew wide. “Oh, that lovely mint tea. I think we export it. That would be wonderful.”

Lieseleta was used to Rozemyne’s use of strange words, but Lady Carnelia looked puzzled at the word “mint.”

Blissfully unaware, Rozemyne continued. “Mild, red, mint cookies with a heart-shaped leaf in their center. Perfect!”

Carried away, she rushed off to see the chef, leaving poor Lady Carnelia to recover in the now silent library.
