The original map was printed in Black and White and hand coloured using colouring pencils on hand. The purple originally didn't differentiate enough with the lighter pink so heavier pressure was applied.

Spending some time thinking about spatial story telling and created these 3cm x 3cm pottery pieces. I've been exploring tactile city design and we'll see where this might lead.

I posted an article today about using spatial and systems thinking to achieve the dream.

In it I pointed to articles where I had used the term .

Please read, reflect, remix and share.

This is a paragraph from a 2009 Tutor/Mentor blog article. It says:

"Finally, I've been accused of being a habitual visual and spatial thinker, because of the way I use maps and focus on helping all poverty neighborhoods of Chicago have great, and constantly improving, volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs."

Congratulations to Megan Davidson who won an award for her Masters thesis last night. Her work looked at data selection for tactile maps for blind and low vision users. With the rise of 3d printing, tactile maps are more affordable and Megan's work provides helpful support. #GIS #spatialthinklab #spatialThinking

Can you even teach projections without oranges 🍊?

Very impressed by my students peeling abilities today!

Today's highlight from deep in the grading cave is that both classes I taught this quarter were the second in a course sequence, and the students' additional contextual understanding, methodological training, and general level of engagement comes through in the final projects. #spatialthinking

Very proud of our lab's latest creation. A salted caramel cake in a planar projection of the southern hemisphere to scale. #cartography #mapmaking #mapsInTheWild #spatialthinking #spatialDoing #planarProjection

Matthew Cunningham spoke about using the surface from motion tool Agisoft to 3D map a pā site in the Wairarapa.

Fraser spoke about the outreach strategy he's been supporting on the #wairarapa project and showed off some of the project's webmaps.

Not to be dramatic, but taking a U-Spatial workshop could save your life.

It's been a week. Philip Blagdon who's our geospatial technician at the moment knocked it out of the park with a great talk on data quality using meaningful examples from his work at Waka Kotahi.

Insightful advice on the value of information and making the business case for data quality and information infrastructure.

Today was a winner. Five moving narratives for 5 important wetlands in the Wairarapa. It was a real privilege to listen to these stories and also hear them take flight and come to life. The stories will be released in our #virtualReality application and on the project website next year. #research #wairarapaGlisteningWater #spatialThinking #spatialDoing

Spent yesterday in the Wairarapa creating an outreach strategy for our Wairarapa Glistening Water VR project. Today is back to the recording studio to capture more of the evocative place narratives in the voices of Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa. This project is so diverse and one of the reason academic study/research can be rewarding and engaging! #spatialThinking #spatialDoing #fieldwork #academicLife

Success!
Textured Earth by bld on thingiverse using creality black PLA filament and an Ender 3 s1 pro.

We've been having some teething difficulties getting started on top prints but this looks really promising. Annoyingly it seems the filament spool was the issue for the last set of problems. It seems to have either become tangled due to poor management on our part (definitely possible for us newbies) or camr that way.
