I'm finishing up #SupremeCommander 2, only a couple of levels left, neat RTS with bonker size battles, and okay story, though one of the moment that left me speechless was the appearance of this fire breathing Dinosaur, it was so random

Also, I wish the transports worked similar to how they work in #SupremeCommander. Each plane seems to carry only one unit. While you can build a ferry route by alternating between load, move and unload commands and setting it on repeat, it still takes a while to transport a tank column. Unless you have an amphibious/hover assault unit securing the beachhead, it's probably going to end badly.

Finished all three campaigns in #SupremeCommander. 🥳

This was a really enjoyable game, at least in “easy” mode. It was just the right balance between relaxing and thinking about how to win. (I have no interest in playing against another human being – far too stressful. 😂)

Zoomed in on some UEF units. Two tanks, several other Engineers (which look a bit like bulldozers). A building to the right, a forest in the background. Some logs from trees in the foreground (your engineers pick them up to gather “mass”, which the need to build stuff – this is not the primary means of getting mass, though).

It’s full 3D and surprisingly detailed.

Played a bit of #SupremeCommander since I’ve got it to work again a couple of weeks ago.

I’m really bad at these kinds of games and I’m shamelessly playing in easy mode. It is fun, though, and it is certainly nice to look at, because it’s a full 3D world with arbitrary zoom levels. (Maybe this is a standard thing today, I don’t know – the only other RTS I ever played was Command and Conquer.)

It runs on my (super loud) #WindowsXP box. but don’t you dare tell me this is “retrogaming”. 😅

Hmpf. Another DVD that fell victim to “being too old”. I ignored it for too long, now it’s unreadable. ☹️

“Supreme Commander”, the last game for Windows that I bought (I think), 2007. One of the (then) fascinating novelties was the arbitrary zoom and rotation: It wasn’t just a top-down view like the usual strategy games, but a full 3D world. I think you could zoom in to view the world from the perspective of an individual unit. That was quite exciting. 😅

I hope I can dig up a backup of this. I’d love to play it again.
