It's Friday night, y'all.

Time for #wenchwatches

Tonight we have a star studded piece of pro-US-militaristic flap trap and I decided to watch because of a cat meme.

That's right! It's #theHuntForRedOctober

Ich bin ein Politiker, das heißt ich bin ein Lügner und Betrüger und wenn ich Kindern keine Küsschen gebe klaue ich ihnen ihre Bonbons. Epischer, wenn nicht der Epischste Film!

@theresmiling It’s a favourite of mine too!

Up there with ‘The Enemy Below’ as one of the great all time submarine suspense movies.

I really like how the Star Trek Strange New Worlds episode S1 finale ‘A Quality of Mercy’ drew on both these films as well as the TOS episode ‘Balance of Terror’, itself an homage to great submarine flicks.

In honor of James Earl Jones' passing, I watched "The Hunt for Red October" for the umpteenth time. This movie will always be a guilty pleasure of mine and I will always remember Jones as THE Admiral Greer, in my book.

Now, understand, Commander,

that torpedo

did not self-destruct.

You heard it hit the hull.

And I...was never here.

One thing about running the show at a place that requires two different sets of keys to operate: Every once in a while, the openers will have the same keys and can't access stuff to open the branch for the day. Sigh, days off don't exist in my world.

"Captain, the reason there are two sets of missile keys is so that no one man can arm the missiles."

I think of this quote every time this happens.

Tom Clancy's espionage-thriller #TheHuntForRedOctober was released in 1984, whereupon the popular war game theme was immediately transferred to the home computer market. When the film was released in 1990, a large Japanese company starting with N was already enjoying great success with its consoles. The game was also to appear on the smallest of these devices – the #GameBoy – in a completely revised form, but under the same name.

#TheHuntForRedOctober was released in movie theaters 34 years ago yesterday.

I was so fascinated with the submarine warfare strategy in this movie when I first watched it. One of my go to movies.

It's generally assumed that movie adaptation of books never do them justice. Can anyone think of any specific scenes in movies that differed from the books where the movie version was better? Also, can you think of any movies that were overall at least as good, or better than the book? I humbly submit that qualifies for the latter question.
