Here's a study of the (probably) arboreal Suminia, commissioned in 2022 for a project I cannot talk about yet. It is a small therapsid, which I chose to make hairy but it might not have been.

A newly described early-middle Permian gorgonopsian from Mallorca, the oldest member of this clade known so far, shows that therapsids likely evolved in paleoequatorial Pangaea!

At the #x2024 #commodore64 #demoscene gathering, Thomas Jansson (Tubesockor) and I did a little presentation about SidFactory 2 with support for hardware #SID based synths like the #TherapSID. By interfacing SID synths with SF2 and the excellent #DeepSID web player, you can play, edit and live remix SID music on real SID chips using your own laptop.

October: Inostrancevia family at sunrise. I hadn’t drawn Permian synapsids in a while at this point so they were overdue for a paleoart. I also felt like going absolute ham with my reds. The sunrise and Permian volcanism made for a convenient excuse but really, this is just for me.

A recent series of volcanic eruptions causes the Sun to rise in astonishing colours over the vast Pangaean deserts. An #Inostrancevia family gets ready for the day, the cubs playing with everything in sight, from their mother to a very dismayed #Dvinia . A little way away, a #Vivaxosaurus browses a shrub for breakfast.

A watercolour painting depicting a scene in a rocky, red desert. Prominent in the foreground is a sitting Inostrancevia. It is a large carnivorous gorgonopsid with sabreteeth visibly poking out under its lips. It is depicted covered in light brown fur in a vaguely stripy camouflage pattern. It has a mane of darker brown fur around its neck and long, thick eyelashes like a camel's. While somewhat mammalian in appearance, its nose and ears are simple holes without exterior tissue. There are three cubs of the same species: one of them is perched on its parent's neck, its head laid on top of the parent's head. A second one is in a rock's shadows, snarling at its mother's tail. A third one is further to the right, curiously nearing a burrow at the foot of a large rock formation occupied by a Dvinia. The Dvinia is a cynodont a bit smaller than the Inostrancevia cubs, and it has curved its spine and tail like an angry cat. It is covered in brown fur, although its belly is white, and is hidden in the darkness of the burrow. Around the scene are large red rocks, including a sort of natural gate-like formation to the right. There are also short coniferous shrubs about. In the background, a Vivaxosaurus is standing on two legs, its front legs placed on a small tree on whose leaves it is nibbling. It is a grey brown, slightly rotund beast with a short tail and a hooked beak. Beyond it, the scene fades into distance rock formations and canyons below a purple-pink sky with wispy clouds.
