Recently discovered Loop ear plugs, & bought a pair of the "Enhance" ones, which filter only some frquencies.

Wow. I can *actually* hear myself think. (No wonder I found public transit stressful.)

They are invisible, 3 sizes in the box, and I don't feel them. I love that they filter street noise, but I can still hear birdsong ❤

Might get a pair of the soft all-silicone ones, for sleeping (also block more sound). Mine are too hard.

Only 53 pages into #KoheiSaito's 364-page #Japanese book on the #Anthropocene and #Capitalism or whatever today's #GlobalEconomy now has in common with the economy #KarlMarx wrote about. The book mentions #Wallerstein, #ImmanuelWallerstein too. As with #NaomiKlein's #ThisChangesEverything #SaitoKohei's book is putting new articles into context. The rich countries can't #externalize #外部化 as much of the #risk and #cost anymore.

#斎藤幸平 の本、 #人新世と資本論 はいいな。 #ガレアノ さんの #収奪された大地ラテンアメリカ500年 (1973年出版!) を読んでから気になっていたペルー(ボリビア、チリなど)の #グアノ 貿易までとらげている。 #ナオミクライン さん の #これが全てを変える （#ThisChangesEverything)で #ナウル (#Nauru)の肥料貿易と #資源の呪い を見てから 改めてガレアノさんの グアノ扱いを読んいた。 斎藤さんまた、 きれいに纏めて勉強になる。 前から英語の #Externality をどう日本語で表現するか気になっていた。 斎藤さんの本を読むと自然と #外部化 の表現を身につく。 #チョムスキー と #クライン (#NaomiKlein) を読むと #Extractivism も気になるけど、 人新世と資本論 を読んだら #採集主義 で通じるだろうと思った... 48ページしか読んでいないけど、 最後まで読まなくちゃ!!

I'm trying to continue a book-reading binge with #NaomiKlein's #ThisChangesEverything after #AmitavaGhosh's The #GreatDerangement. Being more influenced by Bengal and India Ghosh may have been able to avoid some of the big-lie images that get Naomi Klein's book started. She'll probably come back and sort out the #FreeMarketMyths later but a few pages in, during the discussion of the Heartland Institute's science-ish hand-waving and talking points I keep thinking of #NoamChomsky on the 80s.
