What about the fumes when 3D printing PLA?
I measured particulate matter and volatile organic components (VOC) with sensors and an Arduino in the enclosure of my printer:
The values of PM2.5 and PM10 stayed the same inside and outside the enclosure, so it seems that there is no danger here.
The TVOC value in the enclosure didn't exceed 600 ppb (parts per billion). Outside the enclosure at eye level near the printer, the value did reach 350 ppb.
In both cases, the TVOC value dropped very fast when venting the room with fresh air from outside through an open door.
It seems that an enclosure could help with keeping VOC away from you while printing.
Note that my sample size is n=1 so this might also be a coincident.
