This image is of V1025 Tauri, a triple star system in the Taurus Molecular Cloud some 400-450 light years away; its Gaia EDR3 is 788 ly but that seems unlikely. The photographer noticed some faint nebulosity around the star, took a chance, and ended up with this picture--as an object it is virtually unstudied, with only one other widely available picture that I'm aware of. A bright yellow star with two close companions below it, embedded in a roughly pear-shaped bubble of gas. The "pointy end" of the pear is at right. Within the general boundary of the bubble we have a relatively dark region on the left and a filigree of wispy cloudiness on the right.

Now is time for the spectrum of a Wolf-Rayet type of star: WR-7 also catalogued as V1687 Cyg.
It is a WC, meaning that it is a star rich in carbon. We can actually "see" the carbon and helium inner layers, because the intense stellar winds and a pronounced unstable hydrostatic equilibrium have expelled its outer hydrogen layers to interstellar space. The broad emission lines are trademark of these types of stars.

Spectrum of a Wolf-Rayet star that shows pronounced and broad peaks of emission lines that reveal the chemical composition of the star. To the right of the spectrum is the actual stacked picture that has the data to generate the spectrum. At the bottom is the detail of such picture, showing only the star studied.

Before the end 2022 (according to my time zone), allow me to share a final light curve for the rotational variable Star HD 251108.

These observations we're requested by the AAVSO in their Variable Alert #798.

May this domingo 2023 be full of amazing #astronomy discoveries, fun, and awe!

Just did my first #photometric #variablestar #observation #report to #AAVSO. A new chapter in my #citizenScience endeavour.
