I chose this image because it allows me to illustrate the use of the “Motion Blur” filter and because I'm not good enough at drawing to show my work :). Nevertheless, I tested this tool and found it to be both simple and powerful. Excellent.

On the top right are the image layers (only one for now) and below that is the history (only one: “Open an image”), both simple and practical. On the left are the drawing tools, and at the bottom are the color palette, image characteristics, and zoom. At the top, in the title bar, are the edit menus and menus.

📚️ Pinta is a lightweight, libre & multi-platform bitmap image editor inspired by Paint.NET, allowing you to draw and manipulate images in a simple but powerful way. It offers the classic drawing tools (freehand drawing, lines, rectangles, ellipses, ...), adjustment and effect tools (35 tools), a complete history (allowing you to go back in time), layer support (to separate and group elements of your image) and a flexible workspace (fixed and/or floating windows).

Part 3: Developing a Way to do Action Scenes Without Money

Since the last post in this series the project I've been working on became way more ambitious. The original problem I was trying to solve, was figuring out how to use computer graphics ( mainly Blender ) to cut costs for an action scene in a movie I'm developing. It has cars, so the idea was to try to render some CG cars into real life footage. You can go read Part 2 to see my attempts at this sort of thing.

📚️ Inkscape is a libre, multi-platform, mature vector graphics software (similar to Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Freehand or Xara X). It uses open W3C record formats (SVG, XML, CSS) and can import/export in most common vector formats. It offers a rich feature set and uses vector graphics for crisp printing and rendering at unlimited resolution. It has a comprehensive feature set, a simple UI, multilingual support and is designed to be extendable via add-on modules.

At first I decided to write my own grid creation function, and then I realized that if I used it in a decal, it would be similar to a scanner effect. Unreal Engine 5, material. I'm sure Kevin Flynn would like this

Yes, paint and cleaning techniques are widely used in modern movies. This saves a lot of money on set by eliminates the need to redo a take if something or someone is in the frame.

I have a lot of paint for my current film, but I haven't had a camera until now. The main task is to paint over anachronisms, some set technicians, and set gears.

This type of work is called invisible VFX. If done well, it should be unnoticeable. 😊

Watched #AvatarFireAndAsh on #imax 3D and although it felt more.like the greatest hits of the first two movies, leave it to Cameron to make a 3+ hour fulm seem.like a brisk 90 minute one. As.always the action, the visuals.and #VFX were stunning. Loved Varang #WetaFX

I just received the Tron Ares issue of the VFX Magazine Before and After. The fact that they are using the old school Cinefex format just makes my inner nerd all happy inside.

@gaghyogi49 This side-by-side is an excellent illustration of the pseudo-3D #VFX the creators attempted when filming the viewscreens in #TNG. Always appreciated the effort it would take to plan to match the camera angle when filming the bridge and the remote set.

If I recall, most of the composited view screenshots in #DS9, #VOY, and #ENT were shot head-on and avoided this kind of creativity. Now I need to watch those #StarTrek series more carefully to find the examples, if any!

I've gotten really into "VFX Artists React", lately. It is kind of fascinating.
