I normally call flowers with this structure "daisy-shaped", but that's a bit redundant in this case.

A twig from which a large number of catkins hang down. Most are unopen, quite small and very densely closed up. A few are open, and two at the front are fully extended, mush longer than the others. These are the male flowers which release pollen onto the wind. No female flowers were found on this particular plant as yet.

Not actually in flower, and seen from a great distance, but I felt I had to share this Absolute Unit of a Mistletoe clump seen in #Wendover, #Buckinghamshire on Boxing Day. It's in a Beech tree which had its leaf buds still very tightly closed so this was the only greenery in the picture. #WildflowerHour #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography

Near the top of a tree with bare branches is a very large spherical clump of mistletoe, the only green in an image which is otherwise black branches against a grey sky.

One from today for #WildflowerHour - Mexican Fleabane. It grows wild in cracks in the paving at my mother's place in #Wendover. My mother's garden in #Wendover, #Buckinghamshire, gets a whole better class of weeds than mine does, despite my large collection of dandelion-relatives. It helps that her garden backs onto some unmanaged woodland and the plants there see her garden as a sort of clearing to set up home in. Here are Nipplewort, Ivy-leaved Toadflax, Herb Robert and Mexican Fleabane. An oddly-shaped pale purple flower. The leaves are shaped a bit like ivy leaves, but not a very close resemblance if we're being honest.

A five-petalled pink flower and some developing seed pods.

Several flowers looking very similar to daisies, but with very different leaves.

Not daisies, but Mexican Fleabane. My father planted one in a pot many years ago and now its descendants grow in cracks in the walls and paving around my mother's house. My mother's pride & joy is the climbing rose that grows over her seat in her garden. It's pretty spectacular, but it's long finished flowering for the year.
