As a GenX cuspie/elder Millennial fan of the show, the dream of the 90s included a heavy dose of irony + self deprecation. I think it often lovingly skewered the gate-kept alternative coolness + relative class privilege + whiteness.

Granted, I am not from the Pacific Northwest. I have only visited. I'm a Black fan of grunge, queercore, folk, + indie music.
Maybe blame wrecked economy + the tussle between youth culture as market vs sustainable alternative?

The Minnesota assassinations, the attempted arson at Governor
Shapiro's home, and the violent arrest of Senator Padilla are all
straight out of the Jim Crow terrorism playbook. Same goes with
cops aiming for journalists covering the ICE protests.

God's Not Dead
Over the last 38 years, Tait has emerged as one of the most iconic names in
Christian Music (CCM). The genre and industry often exists in
its own commercial and cultural ecosystem - yet mimics popular trends of
mainstream music - creating multi-platinum superstars who are marketed to
teens (and their parents) as wholesome alternatives to the "sinful lifestyles"
of mainstream rock stars.
Tait was one-third of the rap-rock group, DC Talk, which formed in 1987
while its members were attending the evangelical Liberty University, whose
founder, Jerry Falwell, launched the Moral Majority, the political
organization that first galvanized evangelical voters around the Republican
party in 1980, forever changing the American political landscape. Falwell was
a mentor to young Tait - whom he referred to as "my white daddy" - and
helped boost DC Talk to stardom.

White People ruined Ballymena, then blame it on The Other, rather than take adult responsibility for their lives and their community.

It's easier to wallow in self pity and spite rather than do anything, and that's what this white trash do. Don't waste your energy trying to understand these people, there's nothing to understand.

ethnic group. By 2021 it was 65,600 people, or 3.4%. Compared with England

‘Pure racism’

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said he "utterly condemns” the violence.

First Minister Michelle O'Neill said what was happening in Ballymena was "pure
racism, there's no other way to dress it up".

Meanwhile, the Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly said the violence was
"serving no purpose whatsoever” and was only damaging communities.

‘The PSNI Chief Constable Jon Boutcher described the disorder as "mindless violence".
“These criminal acts not only endanger lives but also risk undermining the ongoing
criminal justice process led by the PSNI in support of a victim who deserves truth,
justice, and protection.”

Strange, the NYT can report on the racist nature of these riots (almost) but the BBC makes a choice to refer to them as a 'mob' with no political leanings....hmmmmm
