Spent yesterday with friends and they put one of those youtube yule log things on the big TV. And we noticed at some point that the art was AI, and started picking it apart. Then it transitioned into a slide show of progressively more insane AI holiday scenes, and we were laughing uncontrollably as we took turns pointing out the distorted perspectives, wrapped packages inside burning fireplaces and pedestrians with nightmarish anatomy. Good times.

My favorite #YuleLog has a #Strampunk vibe.

Quelle que soit la culture, l'origine de la fête est la même. Seuls certains symboles diffèrent selon les cultures. Voici ce que dit l'Encyclopedia Universalis au sujet de Noël : « Fête solennelle de la naissance de Jésus-Christ, Noël est célébré le 25 décembre dans toutes les Églises chrétiennes depuis le IVe siècle. À cette époque, cette date était alors celle de la fête païenne du solstice d'hiver appelé « Naissance (en latin, Natale) du soleil », car celui-ci semble reprendre vie lorsque les jours s'allongent… ». (« Natale » est la racine du mot Noël).

The Yule Log on TV. It's older than you probably realize unless, like me, you grew up in NYC.
The Yule Log was the invention of WPIX (channel 11) for New Yorkers who didn't have a fireplace, which is most of us. They filmed about half an hour of a fire burning in the fireplace at Gracie Mansion, the home of NYC’s mayor, ran the film over and over, and added music.
It might qualify as the first music video!
My Other Half is a #maker, but unlike my scattershot approach to crafting, they specialise and focus. On food. Especially cakes.

The FauxTree is the top part of a premium JC Penney artificial tree bought in 1971, handed down to me in the late 80s. I sawed off the bottom half because it was too big for the apartment. The stand is bolted to a board, which is zip-tied to the table, because cats.
