#AmpereOne: Cores are the new megahertz, at least for #enterprise #servers. We've gone quickly from 32, to 64, to 80, to 128, and now to 192-cores on a single #CPU socket!
It has 192 custom #Arm cores running at 3.2 Gigahertz, and in some benchmarks, it stays in the ring with AMD's fastest EPYC chip, the 9965 "Turin Dense" (which is also the fastest and most efficient:), which also has 192 cores.
This server isn't targeted at #HPC It's targeted at #Telco Edge deployments.

Particularly with #HPC-type workloads and other scientific computing scenarios the Graviton4 with its #NeoverseV2 cores were delivering significant leads over the custom AmpereOne cores. Its worth reiterating AmpereOne was engineered as a 2022~2023 product but it's taken now until H2'2024 for its production to really ramp up to point of seeing Oracle Cloud A2 general availability

The ARM64 kernel has a 256 core limit while with CPUs allowing up to 192 physical cores per socket, that 256 limit is passed in a dual socket configuration

#AmpereOne with 192 Cores 128x PCIe Gen5 Lanes and DDR5 in 2023
AmpereOne no longer uses stock #Arm #Neoverse cores. Instead, a custom core designed by #Ampere. It still uses Arm ISA, but it is Ampere’s core. The core features 64KB 4-way L1 data cache per core, 16KB L1 instruction cache per core, and a 2MB L2 cache per core. AmpereOne will cover 136-192 cores, leaving #Altra/#AltraMax to core counts of 128 and below. The cache is doubled. PCIe Gen5 doubles the bandwidth.
