I finished this a couple of weeks ago. It really is a marvelous introduction to Ancestral veneration. Stimpson covers many approaches from a variety of cultures and spiritual practices without judgement and with openness. He is not at all dogmatic, but presents options from which to choose, like a buffet. His voice is a gentle one, and his kindness oozes through the written words. I’ve added quite a few rituals to my own practice after reading this, and I have to say it’s really opened up my approach. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in working with your ancestors.

The online #Sabbat rituals I started during the COVID lockdowns continue to be an important part of my offerings. Last night we gathered on Zoom for #Samhain to honor our beloved dead. During our ritual we paused to reflect on whole species who have disappeared into the ancestral realm due to the #ExtinctionCrisis because our #EcoGrief needs to be acknowledged and shared.

With the turning from autumn to yule time, the ancestral gods have been coming in full force. It’s part of my spiritual cycle to have the kemetic gods go gently quiet for a few months to let the ancestors and those gods shine. About a year ago, I recieved a box in the mail containing my baby book, about a hundred loose photos from my childhood, and a birthday card with no inscription or message beyond my mom signing her and her husband’s names.
We hadn’t been on speaking terms since 2015. It was unclear whether it was an olive branch or a purging of all evidence I had ever existed.

This weekend I inherited a tarot deck from my deceased grandmother and am trying to decide whether to keep it on my altar for her, or carry it with my everywhere as my new main, or somewhere in between where I use it a fair bit, but keep it placed otherwise on her altar?
