Sometimes I have to use Kubernetes.
Everyone hates Kubernetes because you have to write so much YAML, and using Kubernetes is also very complicated.
The good news: You don't have to write YAML anymore. https://github.com/xchangeee/claudernetes/ will put Claude Code right where it belongs: An ArgoCD config management plugin.
Fed up with helm charts? Don't feel like writing YAMLs anymore? Just put a markdown file in your git repo and you're good to go!
We've had a number of people interested in this while we were walking around at #FOSDEM so let's give some insights here..
We have 3 physical machines in an #EU located and owned datacenter. We run a #Ceph storage cluster and #K3S on top of them.
Our operation is fully #gitops using #ArgoCD. We run our site with #offen for basic analytics, so visitors have #privacy, #transparency and #control.
If you see someone in a black shirt and our logo during #fosdem2026, feel free to approach us!
Sonnet

Question for devs & ops [1]: what tool are you using for your deployments (and more generally: for your CD) / what open source tools do you recommend?
Context: we're looking into Spinnaker as a candidate to replace our legacy tooling, but some weak signals are giving us the feeling it may not be so active anymore. To get some more data point I'm curious to find out if some of you are using it. And more generally if you have recommendations for that type of tool.
[1]: if you are neither I would still appreciate a boost, for reach 🙏

I hate when I want a thing done in FOSS, and I could probably do it, but I just do not have the time, and so it never gets done :sad_fax:
J'avais pas prévenu ici mais tant pis, on démarre bien en cette nouvelle année, on découvre enfin #ArgoCD, c'est maintenant sur https://www.twitch.tv/therealseboss666
It really is surprising sometimes how #homelab services grow....and I just want to emphasize that it's silly to think that you'll be the exception.
Prior to doing my big holiday cleanup of scattered docker containers being moved over to first class, fully automated #proxmox #k3s VM nodes, and #kubernetes services being managed by #ansible and #argocd, I thought for sure I knew exactly how many services I would be running.
I also felt confident that I didn't need anything more than that.
Low and behold, the old adage holds true.
Tonight I was working on my deployment of #netbox (https://github.com/netbox-community/netbox) and I realized that it uses #Postgres under the hood.
No big deal. I've got a Postgres instance already running in the cluster.....except that I wrongly made the assumption that #paperless_ngx would be the only consumer, and I turned off the superuser.
Still no big deal....except that I'm deploying everything via GitOps as much as possible, AND I've already got live, important data in Postgres.
*long sigh*
So...now I get to go do some manual surgery on users and databases to make it be a proper cluster wide, multi-tenant service, I'll make the gitops side of it look pretty later.
And that's when I realized that keeping an instance of #pgadmin around would be super useful going forward.
I was, in no way, planning on running a PgAdmin instance, but here we are.
Well...guess what? I'm also running Mongo, InfluxDB, and Redis.
Thankfully, Influx ships with a WebUI...but if I'm already adding pgAdmin, then there's no sense skipping #Mongo Compass and #Redis Insight.
And that's officially 3 more unexpected services to deploy in a single night.
Very excited to have gotten through a pretty big lift + refactor in the #homelab over the last few weeks. For a while, I’ve had one foot in my old, disorganized, scattered Docker services, and one foot in a new, fully automated, #gitops pseudo-prod for home.
Well, no more. I’ve cleaned up all of the old shit. Centralized config, linted, backed up, refactored, and smoke tested the core platform. It completely spins up and down, with one Playbook, data fully backed up, etc.
Hardware:
- 3x #amd mini PC’s w/32GB RAM
- #synology DS1813+
- 1x Intel miniPC for #homeassistant OS
- TP-Link #Omada gateway, PoE switch, and AP’s
My core stack is, going from hardware to workload lifecycle and access:
- #proxmox
- #fedora #fedora_coreos VM’s
- #k3s #Rancher #kubernetes
- #nfs subdir provisioner
- #ansible
- #argocd
- #Tailscale
- #1password Kubernetes Operator
- #velero
I just did a DR drill with my kids’ #minecraft servers, and it worked great, and I’m super pumped with #selfhosting #paperlessngx!
Those are the first family-facing apps that I’ve deployed, and I’ve got a laundry list of more services on the way.
It was far, far more work than it probably needed to be…but I also can fully trust it with our most important personal docs, which was priority one.
The power of GitOps
I'm away for the holidays, meaning I do not have direct access to my k3s socket for updates
BUUUT I still have access to all of my repos 😏
Small commit here, small commit there and boom, OIDC enabled for Immich via PocketID
I am living my past self's dream
#homelab #selfhosted #immich #oidc #oauth2 #security #pocketid #k3s #kubernetes #gitops #argocd
Finally did it and stood up k3s, argo with gitops, and moved secrets to 1password vault with external secrets.
Just need to expose argo via tailnet.
Then I can deploy the minecraft server that way because I can never remember how to update the other one I run for kids.
I also want to try to run geysermc
Argo CD

🤔 Multi-cluster production question!
Planning 2-3 prod + 1 staging cluster setup with Hub-Spoke Architecture - management cluster hosting Vault, ArgoCD, Grafana, etc.
For those with production experience: Is this reliable enough at this scale? Any single-point-of-failure concerns or alternative patterns you'd recommend?
Looking for battle-tested insights!
Jenkins в эпоху Kubernetes

Anyone use #ArgoCD for deploying their helm charts?
Last time I tried (which admittedly was a while ago), there wasn't an easy way to define inter-chart dependencies.
As a simple example, I want to ensure cert-manager is installed before I install a custom chart that contains issuer configurations, otherwise the chart install will fail since the CRDs aren't there.
In Flux, this is easy, but I can't figure out how to do this reliably in ArgoCD
