A killer sounding reissue of an essential early #80s #postpunk record. Every song is a slayer, particularly the David Bowie-penned “Repetition”.
When I heard that MOV was going to reissue it, I got very excited, because I knew it would sound really good. It was just a matter of whether or not I’d get my hands on one of the 750 copies. Mission accomplished!
Such a great band.

If you didn't know better, you'd mistake Au Pairs for Gang of Four, but with a female vocalist.
Something was definitely in the water in the UK back in the Thatcher years, something that produced highly political bands that wanted to write great songs that were message *and* music.

I have a feeling that the Au Pairs sometimes get lost in post-punk history. This can't be allowed to happen. Their first (and best) album Playing With A Different Sex was groundbreaking on so many levels, not least of which being the lyrics of guitarist/singer Lesley Woods. Plus you could dance the hell out of it! (Everyone I knew had a copy). For the uninitiated, Come Again is a great place to start.
