"Curiosity’s night would not be spent entirely dreaming of whatever rovers dream, but rather conducting a lengthy APXS analysis of the atmosphere."

... a post with a definite Philip K. Dick's vibe!

Some in-universe lore about "Blade Runner" is that the movie "Soldier" has references to both Tannhauser Gate and the Shoulder of Orion, along with a broken down Spinner on "Arcadia 234" where Todd has been marooned.

A ship which resembles the Sulaco can been seen in "Blade Runner 2049" also.

On this day 43 years ago in 1982, "Blade Runner" premiered.

With the neon lights, constant rain, and futuristic cityscapes forever draped in darkness, no other film has the style or cassette futurism ambiance of Blade Runner.

I was going to have an evening of Forza Motorsport but I haven’t been able to log into the Xbox app for a couple of days so it’s yet another ‘released on this day’ inspired movie choice. Both The Thing and Blade Runner were released on this day in 1982, but as Blade Runner is one of my faves I’ve gone with that. I usually watch the Final Cut these days, but this evening I’ve gone with the U.S. Theatrical Cut, seeing as that’s the version released in 1982 after all.

43 years ago both Ridley Scott's 'Blade Runner', based on Philip K. Dick's novel 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep', and John Carpenter's 'The Thing' based on 'Who Goes There?' by John W. Campbell Jr., a more faithful and definitely more gruesome adaptation of the novella than 1951's 'The Thing from Another World', were released.

Blade Runner film poster by by John Alvin depicting a dark, neon-lit futuristic city with noir elements, flying cars and skyscrapers, featuring Harrison Ford and Sean Young in the classic scene where her character is shown smoking a cigarette. On the top right corner there is the tagline "Man has made his match... not it's his problem" and at the bottom of the poster there is the film title along with the rest of the credits. The Thing film poster by Drew Struzan, depicting a man in a heavy winter parka standing in the middle of a snowy, blue-toned void. His face is completely obscured by a blinding white light that bursts outward from inside his hood, creating dramatic, jagged rays of light. The rest of his body is silhouetted in dark tones, and light beams streak out in all directions. The parka's hood is fur-lined, and he's holding his arms slightly out to the sides. Snow swirls around his feet, and the background fades into a stark, icy darkness. On top of the poster there is the tagline "The ultimate alien terror", and at the bottom, in bold white lettering, is the film’s title "The Thing" along with the rest of the credits.

Me he visto #BladeRunner y #BladeRunner2049 en #PrimeVideo.

Useless quote for 21 Jun:

"The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs, trying to turn itself over but it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that?"
