#Malaria is a terrible disease - I can personally attest to this as my brother had the cerebral variety as a baby and was disabled for life.
But apart from the pain and loss there is another side to malaria. It has kept a lid on population growth in #Africa after life expectancy rose with colonisation in the 19th and 20th centuries. High fertility rates and deeply-rooted culture still prevails outside major cities.
#CapVerde has achieved a major success but will need parallel achievements in #education and natural resources management for population to stay within sustainable levels.
