Die Ruine von Kelefa Castle erhebt sich eindrucksvoll auf einem Hügel oberhalb der Ebene von Oitylo. Sie wurde im 17. Jhd von den Osmanen errichtet, um die widerspenstige Mani zu kontrollieren - ein Versuch, der schließlich scheiterte. Schon wenige Jahre später fiel die Festung in die Hände der Venezianer, die sie kurzzeitig nutzten, bevor sie nach dem Rückzug erneut den Kräften der Zeit überlassen wurde.
Heute sind die Mauern verwittert, das Innere der Burg ist überwuchert von Gras, Feigenbäumen und Gestrüpp; ein wilder Garten aus Stein und Grün, der vergangene Jahrhunderte verschluckt hat. Um die Anlage zu umrunden, klettere ich über die bröckelnden, windumtosten Außenmauern.
