Sure, let's bend the knee even more. That'll make us super competitive and ready for the future, whatever that means at this point.
"The leaked draft also suggests to give AI companies (like Google, Meta or OpenAI) a blank check to suck up European's personal data. [...] Also, remote access to personal data on PCs or smart phones without consent of the user would be enabled."
This is very cool, those awesome crazy Danes have launched a #UStech free platform for finding and promoting live music events in Copenhagen. Check out how to use it here
And the best thing is you can follow it in your #Fediverse feeds.

Good morning Fedi friends!
I was supposed to start writing a new blog post about my tech stack - disclaimers about the apps/platforms I use and the ones I actively avoid for ethical reasons…
Well I just started doing some research and reading about #technofeudalism … and fell down a fascinating and haunting rabbit hole.

“Technofeudalism” is officially my word of the year, if not the decade (century, possibly). I wish more people were aware of it.
The #Fediverse feels more and more like a safe haven for me. And in the bleakness of our current political and technological situation, I’m comforted by the fact I’m currently self-hosting essential services (thank you @yunohost ).
TL;DR: I’m super grateful for the existence of the #Fediverse and the fact I’ve learned how to self-host – two amazing ways to resist technofeudalism.

At the end of the day #DigitalSovreignty is downplayed because people are generally #oppertunists, whether they know it - or not. They'll demoralize and denigrate people from a gutteral level.
I'm not saying I'm exempt "by default". We're all human. But ridding ourselves of #material concerns when dealing with public infrastructure is paramount to our interests as #democracies, believers in #humanrights and the #decentralizationprinciple.
#DigitalSovreignty is not a "nice to have". It's not "a little treat". It is of dire necessity to ensure the safety and security of people.
Your country has no power to judicially deal with foreign entities, so once that data and processing goes over the border, your rights are forfeit.
Believing a company outside of said country won't harvest and sell your data because you pay them a subscription fee is naive.
Believing "you've got nothing to hide" makes no sense if you're Anne Frank.
I have figured out that the only way I can actually move forward with the #fediverse and #digitalsovreignty in #Norway is to write about it.
That is, I am considering making a guide called "The accelerationist guide to digital sovreignty" - in #Norwegian of course, and then in #English.
I think the drip feed of changes that's been going on and that is supposedly "the best approach" is lowballing the situation. The problem is real big, and I feel like I'm the only one who takes it seriously.
In the end, no, your #closetserver or #VPS is not enough. Your #managedhosting solution is not enough. The world 🌍 runs on #cloud infra and that's not what's bad.
What's bad is how it's been implemented, how it's a threat to #privacy, how it's a threat to #DigitalSovreignty, as well as #wellfare AND #freemarket - at the same time!
So what do you do? Throw the baby out with the bathwater, or do you question the actual hardware infra, as well as the legal industrial precedents set?
#DigitalSovreignty should also entail the valuation of data as a form of currency and that #US interests have devalued the data of countries around the world by making it as cheap as possible. It's a matter of supply and demand.
In this vein #DataBrokers can be considered a national threat, because what they do is devalue citizens data by feeding it into various tracking and learning models.
I'm saying we've been bamboozled, hoodwinked, raked over the coals, the yanks got us good.
Part 2/
The only thing that irritates me about this is that it wasn't built in #Europe.
Actually, scratch that. I am both saddened and angered that #Equinor isn't dumping a couple of hundred millions into #NordicSemiconductor to set up #RISCV prefabs so we can make our own SoC's - and I mean for workstation and server grade SoC's, not just embedded controllers.
#ARM is owned by ARM Holding and is therefore outside the scope of #DigitalSovreignty.

Why is #CI #CD excluded from the #DigitalSovreignty conversation? It shouldn't be, because #GitHub should not be the end-all, be-all of software building, testing and even packaging. There should be local alternatives.
