Tried to make a version of #DolphinEmulator's icon, in the style of the Wiimote A button.

I made a custom version of the #dolphinemulator #wii emulator which hacked the GPU emulation to do HDR lighting *just* for #EternalDarkness.

Maybe one day I’ll put in the effort to upstream it. 😬

Apparently there's this thing called #RetroAchievements, which adds achievements to emulated games.

You know what, having achievements will probably make the process of re-tackling my #Nintendo #GameCube / #Wii collection even more fun, and of course #DolphinEmulator has built-in support for RetroAchievements.

On sadder news, I tried to start replaying GameCube version of Metroid Prime, and yikes, while some of it still lurks in the reflexes, guess my brain is fully adapted to Halo controls over the past decade and half. How the heck did I complete MP1&2 with this funky control scheme?

(On *distantly related* news, I've not bothered to find out yet how much monneyyy Nintendo wants for Metroid Prime 4 for Switch 1. ...Arm and leg, probably.)

I've now dumped 25 #Nintendo #GameCube titles, and I think that concludes my entire library!

Onward to the rest of my #Wii games, which are a marginally more annoying because multilayer discs may require SD card swaps and the final images need to be reassembled from chunks.

I store the games in RVZ format for #DolphinEmulator, it packs the unused disc space filled with junk data pretty well. It's surprising how well some of these games compress. Wii Sports isn't actually a full DVD (4.7 gigs), RVZ image is just 638 megabytes.

Finally (mostly) fixed the framerate and audio stutters in Dolphin Emu on my Steam Deck whenever I pressed the volume buttons.

Turning off vsync does the trick. The framerate only slightly goes down now and with turning that off and enabling audio stretching there are no audio stutters at all.

And that also improved the stutters in general, not just when pressing those buttons.

#dolphinemulator visual enhancements should be more universally appreciated. These environmental textures were so diluted on the original hardware.

like. even the fucking deep-system-level homebrew tools work.

(interestingly, hitting the BootMii button in the homebrew channel takes us to Priiloader instead of, y'know, BootMii)

I wish Dolphin could detect when a real SD card is inserted and switch the "Insert SD Card" setting based off that.

We already have it using our real SD card and it works perfectly, but it'd be cool to have it pop up in the emulated Wii right on insertion instead of having to click a checkbox!

There is a "#Stereoscopy" function in the #GameCube #emulator Dolphin's settings. It seems to be designed for #3D TVs, or maybe red/blue #anaglyph. I wonder if I could get it working on my #ValveIndex #VR headset.
