I agree how with you, @rupdecat, about the lackluster experience with search.
There are a few tips out there on how to improve this, @da5nsy, but my favorite is supplementing it with #Acastus⁰, which uses Photon elastic search instead.
Works well with any other app you're using, #CoMaps, EveryDoor, etc.

Looks like #Transportr works very smooth. I will try it in real world. #coMaps and #OsmAnd on the other hand seam to not support public transport routing in #Switzerland at all.
@meganL @mario #OpenStreetMap's default map is more like most paper maps, very car centric :( But you can change to other versions that highlight bicycle infra, like

That's on the web side. Then apps like #OsmAnd or #CoMaps offer offline bike routing, and both update their maps once every month.

I had been using #OrganicMaps for around 6 months and was pretty happy with it but then I had a problem with the speed display which just wasn’t working and I found very distracting. So I switched to CoMaps and haven’t looked back.
Only uses #GPS not mobile data, privacy focussed so no personal data collection and just works.
Available on iOS and Android.

I wish it was named Excalibre! But that aside, I think it's a good effort. Calibre was a BDFL project, and its author is not the most approachable person. His efforts in creating and maintaining Calibre are appreciated, but one-person systems are very fragile. Rereading Project has a very good mindset - starting with community and governance, instead of rushing headfirst to do code. That's a way chosen by such great projects as #Comaps and #Forgejo, and it pays off greatly.
Please give the project a boost, whether on Fedi, in discussions, or in code!
I need #openstreetmap editing friends! I don't know anyone else who does it.
I use #EveryDoor and #CoMaps when I'm out and the iD editor for anything I can't do with the first two.
I mostly like adding business POIs as well as addresses and ocasionales building outlines.
Mostly it's just fun, supporting open data, and makes me feel like a cartographer!

Not upgrading. Traffic-aware navigation is now under a paid tier. Not sure if it was traffic-aware before.
I liked the app because it was a nice middle ground between #CoMaps and GOOG maps.
Not hating on them for going freemium, though. They could have just done what everyone else does, and sold out their users' data.

Je n'ai pas de voiture mais à vélo ou à pied, et parfois quand il m'arrive de louer une voiture, j'utilise #CoMaps et c'est vraiment top pour ces usages (ツ)
MagicEarth zieht nun leider wirklich durch mit dem Abo: 6€/a und später dann 15€/a
Leider die einzige Navilösung MIT Livetraffic die man empfehlen kann, wenn einem Datenschutz wichtig ist.
Ohne Livetraffic gibt es ja OSMAnd und OrganicMaps/CoMaps.
Immerhin kann man eine Lizenz datensparsam über deren Webseite beziehen.
