It is running #Nextcloud, and so effectively does the cloud storage, calendar & contacts. I've been running this since before Nextcloud (I used to use OwnCloud).

This and SSH is all that is accessible outside of home. Both have MFA and China is currently blocked (I mean to expand this list).

However it also handles DHCP & DNS for the home LAN using #dnsmasq and I use it as an email archive (#dovecot). There is a functional #fetchmail install, but this is currently switched off.

It also has my #Subversion archive. That stays until I get around to having a proper look at #git.

With #USA going downhill I do have plans to get it do do more - but I'm playing with using #docker containers so if anything gets hacked, that will minimise the damage. I currently have too much running on the raw iron.

I'm using #borg for backups onto an external HDD that then occasionally is copied elsewhere (physical media off-site).

@daveburb @nobodyinperson I do the same thing. I use #dovecot to serve the mail folders. I use #fetchmail to pull all my external mail accounts to my #dovecot server they are all aggrigated into my one mailbox.

With this setup, if my mailserver goes down, people can still send me mail without errror. I'll just get it a bit later when the server comes back up. Setup a local SMTP forwarder to forward your outgoinv mail to a real SMTP.

I've been doing that for over 20 years with #dovecot. For a while I even used #fetchmail to pull down emails to it.

Nach wahrscheinlich 25 Jahren habe ich das erste Mal wieder ein #fetchmail auf meinem PC eingerichtet. Da ich immer noch ein GMX-Konto habe, holt Fetchmail da jetzt die Mails per POP3 ab und stellt sie mir über den Mail-Server auf meinem Mini-PC zu (und schickt sie durch Spamassassin und ClamAV, ehe sie im Postfach landen).

Irgendwie ist Fetchmail gefühlt so 1994, aber es funktioniert auch mit aktueller SSL-Verschlüsselung.

Да кто ж его знает, но найти его с чатом стало проще, чем просто копаться на stackoverflow. Про это и статья... Ну и помимо этого под катом работающий скрипт, который слушает почту по IMAP и пересылает письма с вложениями и русским языком на API endpoint.

Сбор и сортировка вложений писем с помощью Fetchmail + Procmail + uudeview

На работе поступила задача от коллеги о необходимости решения вопроса с сохранением вложений в письма (поступают на определенный почтовый адрес) и сохранением их на файловом сервере. В теме письма указана аббревиатура, которую необходимо указать в имени директории, куда будет сохраняться вложения. В интернете я нашел несколько статей, с использованием данных инструментов, но по большей части они мне не давали сделать то, что было задумано и пришлось дописать небольшой скрипт, который позволил нам сохранять файлы на сетевой шаре.

I need to delete #email older than ~45 days or so from the server, while keeping a local copy of all msgs (old & new). To my surprise, #Fetchmail can't handle this, while #Getmail has a "delete_after" option. Must I use Getmail?
