Castle Hill, again. From *another* angle. Again 🫣

The immediate is a drystone wall. A hidden dip in the landscape means that the next most visible part of the scene are some fields separated by drystone walls. These lead up to some woods. Beyond the woods are more fields, farms, and houses. Another ridge, with beyond more distant rural landscape. A hill emerges, with a tower on top. The land continues to a far distant horizon.

That said, most of the frame is taken up with clouds.

Went for a group walk out of Holmfirth this evening with Good Footings, a local walking based CIC.

Danny led us out to the woods near Hade - one of our favourite places to walk - but out & back on paths I've not walked before. This whole area is so crisscrossed with footpaths that there's always somewhere new to explore.

It was a perfect autumn evening for it: crisp and clear, with a lovely sunset.

A small valley - a clough in local parlance - covered with plants and trees common to British woodlands/moorlands. Notably, on the far slope, there is a large patch of purple health and on the near side, there is a line of small rowan trees with bright red berries. The sky above is a clear soft blue but there is a patch of cloud above the valley's dip: the clouds are glowing pink.A narrow reservoir, with mature broadleaf trees on each bank. In the distance, there are clouds glowing in pinks and golds courtesy of the sunset - and the colours are reflected in the still water below.A wind turbine almost silhouetted against the sky, which is deep into sunset. There is only a small orange glow left along the horizon.A wide, hilly landscape at sunset. The land is in shadow as are some menacing clouds above, but there is a golden orange glow on the horizon behind the hills.

Had to collect something I'd bought on eBay this evening and it was conveniently near one of our favourite walking spots at Hade Edge, near Holmfirth at the top of the Peak District.

We walked through the woods in the golden hour, then watched the glorious sunset across the valley while we had dinner in the van.

The ebay seller was really nice too.

An unexpectedly pleasant Monday evening!

A narrow reservoir, with trees in full leaf along both sides. The water is low, revealing a rough stony beach in the foreground. A small stone dam is visible at the far end of the reservoir. It's a sunny evening: the leaves on the right side trees are brightly lit, and the water is reflecting the blue sky above.A woodland scene. A small valley, filled with tree trunks, under a canopy of green. Last year's leaves make the uneven floor orange. Through the trunks, in the distance, the outside world looks brighter, sunny even, but it's very tempting to stay hidden in the woods.A rough track cuts along the left of the image, bounded by a stone wall to the right. Behind the wall, in the distance there is a woodland of pine and spruce trees, including one decidedly Christmas Tree shaped one in the foreground. On either side of the wall, there is rosebay willowherb in full flower - a tall, leggy wildflower with bright pink flowers at its top. It's a lovely summer evening - the golden sun lighting the flowers and trees, which are set against the almost entirely cloudless blue sky above. The moon, half full, is just about visible near the centre of the sky.A ridiculously beautiful sunset over a rural valley, stretching out in the distance. The feature colours of the sunset - rose golds, oranges and peach - is mostly to the left of the picture, above some pine woodland in silhouette. The colours fade into warm blues and greys across the sky. The picture is taken from the top of a hill so the land falls away and flattens out before - in the very far distance - rising into more hills.

The Holme Valley. Up with the Swallows on Cook Study Hill this morning. Despite the name & height it's a flat walk just a few metres from a little back road. #holmfirth #yorkshire #landscape #photography #LandscapePhotography

An expansive view of rolling yorkshire countryside. Lots of fields, trees and stone walls beneath a blue sky.

Stayed up wayyyy too late last night chatting with our friend and could easily have lazed away the day in recovery - but we'd organised a walk with another friend so had to move.

Very glad we went. It's an old favourite around Hade Edge woods near , eight miles bouncing between reservoirs. We had a dip in one too - perfectly timed after we'd got sweaty climbing up the hilly bits. The first plunge was *cold* in contrast, but after that it was fine.

Glorious day for it. Summer at last!

A view over a bay in an stone wall lined reservoir. The nearest stone wall has tiny ferns growing along the top, while the others have young trees growing through the mortar. The surface of the water looks dark and glassy.A narrow reservoir surrounded by moorland. It curves away in the distance so the end is hidden by the hill on the opposite bank. In the foreground, the bank is covered with ferns and there is a stone wall in a state of disrepair on the right. The sky is blue with over exposed white clouds.A view down a shallow valley, with green moorland hills on either side. At the far end of the valley is a reservoir. It's a bright sunny day, making the greenery and blue sky pop. A footworn path leads from the centre of the image in the direction of the far reservoir.

Did a bit of exploring round Holmfirth today, some lovely trails. Should have really taken some water today, quite exposed on the hills and rather hot today. Plenty of walking breaks and enjoying the shade where I could find it, so not too bad.
