Not sure if it will help, but I am filling out the #Portland "Contact an Elected Official" form to tell #KeithWilson what I think of his ridiculous plan to kick #homeless folks out of tiny homes.

Portland created the tiny house villages because there is a severe lack of affordable housing. Now the city is kicking residents out for taking too long to find other housing. You know, the housing that does not exist.

A tiny home is the bare minimum that people in our city should be provided, and it should not be predicated on them doing homelessness "the right way". Both those people and the city at large are better off with them living in a secure tiny home village, rather on the streets where they are constantly endangered and more conflict is created with local residents.

The answer to homelessness is providing a home, not "transitional accommodations".

Governor Tina Kotek, Mayor Keith Wilson, PPB Chief Bob Day and several others held a press conference urging Oregonians to stay calm, but unified, while encouraging resistance to federal overreach. That was just before they sent police to smash the heads of Portlanders putting their bodies on the line to oppose federal agents shooting their neighbors, according to video.

Just one day after the horrific violence in Minnesota at the hands of federal agents, our community here in Portland is now grappling with another deeply troubling incident. Earlier this afternoon, two people were shot and injured by federal agents in the Hazelwood neighborhood.

We cannot sit by while constitutional protections erode and bloodshed mounts. Portland is not a "training ground" for militarized agents, and the "full force" threatened by the administration has deadly consequences. As Mayor, I call on ICE to end all operations in Portland until a full investigation can be completed.

Federal militarization undermines effective, community‑based public safety, and it runs counter to the values that define our region. I will use every legal and legislative tool available to protect our residents' civil and human rights.

I call on every Portlander to represent our values and to show up with calm and purpose during this difficult time. Portland does not respond to violence with violence. We respond with clarity, unity, and a commitment to justice. We must stand together to protect Portland.

The City of Portland will continue to provide updates as they become available. We are grateful to our first responders for their support of the victims.

He has pushed for funding outside companies to oversee housing projects, like the Atlanta-based PadSplit, a company that allows property owners to rent out a house by room, rather than altogether. Wilson included $500,000 in this year’s budget to go toward a pilot project to create a “home-sharing” program similar to PadSplit.
The company, which has been accused of having poor accountability measures for its landlords, was the focus of a city-funded trip to Atlanta this summer, which Wilson and Hisserich attended.

To list just a few of Chandler’s online comments, he labeled Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU)’s gender-affirming care “illegal and damaging youth malpractice.” In a social media post on April 4, Chandler called the Oregon Department of Education’s DEI policies "discrimination based on race," appearing to support President Donald Trump’s push to end equity-based programs, and on more than one occasion he alluded to racial discrimination against white people in Portland as “pretty common.”
Chandler’s comments are consistent with provocative right-wing internet personalities, including Andy Ngo, a well known right-wing influencer. Chandler has left agreeable comments on at least two of Ngo’s posts on X and featured Ngo on an episode of his NW Fresh podcast.
