After a lunch break in an old theatre (the best steak we've ever eaten) accompanied by a tango show on stage at eye level right next to our table (superb) we headed off for the final bit of sightseeing in Buenos Aires before returning to our ship.

This is La Boca, a district of brightly coloured houses and shops, many decorated with figurines outside and on balconies, and filled with artists and tango dancers. Lots of street art decorated every surface in the area and it's a must-see part of Argentina's capital if you're visiting for the first time.

We're on a very wide, cobbled street that curves to the left ahead of us, disappearing behind large, leafy trees to that side of the view. In front of the trees there are stands set up on which there are small paintings or prints on A4 sheets of paper. The right side of the street is bordered by buildings of differing textures shapes and colours. Indeed, the colours are applied in bold and vibrant blocks contrasting doors and window frames with the surrounds that might be smooth or boarded in wood or with corrugated metal sheeting. It's an eclectic, haphazard, chaotic, colourful arrangement that works well with its blues and yellows and greens and pinks and oranges and reds. A couple of ornate iron street lamps stand in front of a few of the buildings and there is one person on the street - a man in jeans and a white t-shirt - walking away from us. It's lightly overcast but feels warm here.

For #TravelTuesday a bit of street art from La Boca in Buenos Aires, Argentina where they've got a fondness for a certain footballer by the name of Maradona that borders on the religious. This was such a colourful, vibrant area of the city to explore anyway and it was nice to see some quality artwork, even if some was in a poor state of repair on our visit in 2016.

Street art on a long wall in the shade of trees in a city. The wall is predominantly blue with three stylised human faces from the left to around centre, all different, with the rightmost one being almost mosaic-patterned and coloured; they are all looking out. To the right is a South American native mermaid figure with tail up, looking to the left at the faces, with her own face quite sad-looking. Two red benches sit in front of the colourful artwork.Street art on a wall. To the right a muscular female figure with a very South American native look and with white headscarf on appears to be shouting at the Aztec or Inca-like representation of the sun, with a face of anger too. A waving blue background feels like water or a flag.Colourful street art on a wall. A group of firefighters, one climbing a ladder while others hold a hose, are facing off against a demonic form, perhaps representing fire with its colours of red and yellow and turned-down horned head; there's something of the minotaur about it.Street art depicting a footballer in the middle of keeping a ball up on his knee. The player wears Argentinian colours of white socks, dark shorts, and pale blue and white striped top, and on his back it reads "Maradona 10"

La Boca, Buenos Aires, #Argentina

#LaBoca is a district in #BuenosAires that claims to be the originating place of #Tango. It is a colorful tourist spot with many cafes and shops; and of course, tango music and lessons.

A full view of an old colorful run-down building. There is a waist-level fresco of flowers and vines, above which is a dilapidated wooden wall with a pink barred blue-green French window, next to an elaborate poster on wood topped by a woman's head over a family of five, titled ArgentinA. There's a thin red lamppost at the far right foreground - it needs paint.

Today is the 27th anniversary of my wife and mine's first date. #OnThisDay in 2016, to commemorate the 20th anniversary, we were about to start a #cruise around #SouthAmerica and were starting with a day exploring fabulous #BuenosAires. We saw a tango show, walked the streets closed off to traffic because there was a protest against the government, visited the cathedral, ate the best steak ever, and wandered around colourful #LaBoca.

A colourful building on a street, on an overcast day that we can still tell is warm because of what the people in the street are wearing. We're looking from one side of the street, across the road that's devoid of traffic, to the other side where a two-storey shop is located. The building has been painted in horizontal stripes; blue, cream, blue in thick bands at the top; a red base, then a vibrant blue with bright yellow, thin bands on the bottom. There are shutters over the windows but the doorway - a huge, double-width, tall, similar to a barn entrance - is open, and there are people passing by and visible inside. Above the doorway is a shallow balcony and on it are three nearly life-size figures in a simplistic, colourful style. A man and woman, well-dressed, are on the right and in the centre respectively, while the left figure is a footballer in the Argentinian kit. There are a handful of people visible on the street, with most being tourists, but three sat on flimsy chairs under a parasol against a colourful wall to the right of the shop appear to be locals.

It's #FensterFreitag so here's a window that isn't really a window. This is from #LaBoca in #BuenosAires in #Argentina and was taken in 2016 when we had a tour of the city at the start of a #cruise around #SouthAmerica. We loved Argentina, we loved Buenos Aires, and we loved La Boca's colourful district and all the artwork that adorned the walls of the buildings.

#TravelPhotography #Travel #Photography #Sculpture #Artwork #StreetArt

Wall of a building, lined with planks of wood laid horizontally and painted yellow. As decoration, a fake window frame, originally in a nicely contrasting shade of teal but looking a little weatherworn with plenty of paint flaking and peeling off from it, is attached to the wall, spanning five planks. Beneath the frame is a fake planter in the same distressed-looking colour. The window frame has shutters, both of them open wide, with one intact - allowing for the general disrepair - and the other lacking almost all its boards. This appears to be recent as the wood from the planks seen through the gap in that shutter are darker yellow indicating less exposure to the effects of the sun. The main window then is half covered with one fake pane containing curtains matching the colour of the window but with horizontal bands of faded white. The other half has a primitive, almost cartoon-like figure of a woman with curlers in her dark hair, wearing a red dress, and reaching out with a hand as if to beg for money or simply check for rain.
