@poledance‼️‼️MOTIVATION MONDAY: This might be a hot take, I’m not sure. But I’ll always advocate for being a lifelong learner. No one - and I mean ABSOLUTELY no one - knows *everything there is to know about dance or pole dancing*. Learning new things is important and tbh I really don’t trust any poler - no matter how long they’ve been dancing for or how advanced they are - that isn’t continually learning and trying new things. That’s red flag city! In addition, fuck ups are important. Screw ups and mistakes are valid reflections of our learning. POST THEM! Everyone makes mistakes; if you don’t, you aren’t truly learning! What are your thoughts on this?

Gouache fun continues. Only three colors (red, yellow, blue) and white are used in these, and color mixing magic fascinates me; I don't have that luxury with pastel. They are both supposed to be more gray, but when I try they come out in greens or violets. Richard K. Blades (on Instagram) is a great teacher.

Loved painting on this textured linen with its lovely revealed edges.. However, building the gesso up a bit more in the painted area so it could be smoothed down to an eggshell smooth surface would have served the painting method used much better I think..

Super excited that I have finally signed up for an ASL class starting in January! I’ve always wanted to learn because I felt drawn to the language, much like I felt drawn to other, non-sign, languages in the past. I get a lot of fulfilment from learning something new that I’m interested in. But it’s more than just that. I also want to be able to talk to Deaf and HoH people in their language, whether that’s in a social context, with random strangers, or in a work-related situation. I also look forward to learning more about Deaf culture which will hopefully enable me to be even more inclusive in everything I do and actively make projects I’m involved with more welcoming to Deaf/HoH people among others.

"Introduction to Climbing" class was great fun. My only problem was letting go of the wall to descend on an automatic belay device. It has to detect a sudden rapid pull to work so you have to just let go. However when the instructor encourages me with "Trust the machine. Let go." my brain laughs. I've been through too many failed software and system updates to trust a machine!
