Από υπολογιστές με #trisquel #GNU/Linux & #GNUBoot, συνέχισα με selfhosting των υπηρεσιών (e-mail, συγχρονισμό αρχείων, chat) με @freedomboxfndn έως την αλλαγή ρουτερ του παρόχου με #librecmc και του σταθερού τηλεφώνου με #asterisk

The other day my ISP announced that they would perform an OS update on my home modem as long as I left it on at night. This means that my (yours too, likely) ISP can remotely control your modem (#backdoor) and has the possibility to #spy on you. My ISP went even further; after the update, my modem admin passwd was reset to factory default. I use a #VPN router between my devices and the modem. But just be careful when you choose a VPN provider, because they can also spy.

Who knows how to torrify a VPN or proxy at the AP / router level (as if you were a ship) so that sites that would block tor would accept the connection because a VPN mediates between the site and the tor connection? This is the only way to have a working internet where mainstream services are still possible but the traffic is still torrified since every connection is tor or a torrified proxy if the connection was refused.

This example from Mullvad is only possible by configuirng an end point. Requires modifying a browser.

No mundo do software livre é comum a instalação de distros GNU/Linux em computadores/notebooks, mas ha uma certa negligência quando se fala daquele negócio com antena ou não que fica parado num canto da casa e serve para fornecer a internet e só. Quase ninguém se preocupa com o software instalado nele, assim quase ninguém fala sobre ele, ao menos no meio mais técnico.

O software instalado nesses roteadores normalmente são privativos, ou seja, são sistemas operacionais que não temos o controle, pois o código fonte e a autorização para mudá-lo não está disponível. Um outro problema é que esses sistemas são pouco atualizados, o que pode acarretar em problemas de segurança para quem usa.

Para quem se preocupa ao máximo com software livre a minha dica é instalar o librecmc, um S.O 100% livre e baseado no mais ou menos livre openwrt.

Liberte seu roteador, aumente a segurança da rede e seja feliz.

I guess I do sorta hope it's mwlwifi being buggy, because then it'd be another reason to finally get around to swapping the wifi card in it for a #linuxlibre compatible one so I cans switch from OpenWrt to back to #libreCMC.

@msw @fedora For those who have at least once worked voluntarily to a free system #Distribution / #Distro that either follows the #GNU FSDG (like those that provide some part of #GNU, such as #Dragora, #Dyne:bolic, #GuixSystem / #GuixSD, #Hyperbola, #Parabola, #PureOS, #Trisquel, #UtutoS, #LibreCMC, #ProteanOS, or those which don't, such as #Replicant) or to a #Distro that is almost there (I'm waiting your reply, #Debian) per-language managers complicated things.

Avant de passer chez un FAI de la #FFDN j'aimerai investir dans un routeur sous #libreCMC ; mais je bloque un peu sur le choix du modèle/vendeur. Une idée d'où je pourrai aller ? J'ai trouvé que des revendeurs americains conseillé par la FSF (et ça va dans les 70-80€, abobo).

Je cherche "le minimum du minimum" pour un petit foyer.
