#librephotos

In my #selfhosting journey, I was unable to run #librephotos (ok, my own shortcoming), then I opted for #immich. Impressive.
Then I heard about #photoprism. Mh, despite some interesting features compared to Immich, it was much slower, and I had an overall subpar experience on the same machine.
So my choice was Immich.

Ok, so far #LibrePhotos + #UhuruPhotos looks promising, but I ran out of time. Maybe I will try some more later, tonight.

Next is #LibrePhotos + #UhuruPhotos. No app in #FDroid, but at least is has 0 trackers. Both demos servers are currently down, and as I already have one tool installed via docker, I can as easily install another. So point for #Docker.

@ilyess It's pretty neat, although as most of my pictures are of our pet rabbits, the "AI" crap isn't any use to me.

There's no way to add user tags or categories to the photos, which is a deal-breaker for me 😢

I'm still looking for a solution, but i'm leaning towards #LibrePhotos (github.com/LibrePhotos/libreph) atm.

There's a good list of other systems here: awesome-selfhosted.net/tags/ph

I use #Syncthing to backup photos from our phones to my raspberry pi and my laptop which works great. syncthing.net ftw

Any recommendations though for an open source photo gallery kind of software on the raspberry pi to be able to browse the libraries? It should not "organize" them or need an import or whatever. Preferably I just want to point it at a folder and be able to view stuff in the browser.

quick search lead me to e.g. #Photoview and #LibrePhotos

Hey community! I'm looking for a #selfhosted alternative to Google Photos for my family. I'm interested in something with an easy to use UI, automatic face tagging, multi-user support (including shared albums and, if possible, automatically sharing photos of designated faces), and a good mobile app that supports automatic syncing with device photos.

I think I've narrowed the options to #NextCloud Memories and #LibrePhotos. Does anyone have any experience with using either as a Google Photos replacement? Can you speak to how you like them, how you decided on them, or anything that might help the choice?

Familie war heute beschäftigt, da konnte ich meine verteilten Systeme mal neu aufsetzen. Jetzt alles schick in #Docker auf einem Rechner mit #portainer und alle Daten importiert.
Jetzt läuft alles wieder:
#pihole
#wikijs
#Appsmith
#paperlessngx
#librephotos
#fhem
#postgresql
#mongodb
#redis
#grafana

Oh, thanks! I am going to look into this. I've avoided Google Photos for ... all the reasons, but #LibrePhotos seems like a great solution.

Unlike commercial service that store your photos in the cloud and scan/index them to train their machine learning models and collect ad targeting data on you, LibrePhotos keeps all your photos and metadata on your local machine. Your data is never sent to or stored on a 3rd party server. Get the same power as those commercial services without giving up your personal data and privacy.

In this video I contrast this service with Immich and Piwigo, looking at some of the features as well as potential shortcomings, before touring through the interface and the available menu settings.

#PhotoPrism was super easy to get going, why the hell was I using #LibrePhotos...

there are so many things wrong with #librephotos just straight out of the box, jesus christ, it is actual garbage.
2023-10-23
I figured out the bug in #librephotos.

1. error say public_photo_samples...exif_timestamp is null
2. find this in /api/user/1, which has all the user settings.
3. it's because I added some public photos and some have no timestamp. I removed them and settings work.
2023-10-23
All the photos I imported from my iPhone with Image Capture have their file mtime set to the photo timestamp so even if #librephotos is too stupid to interpret it from the file content it can at least use that...

So it has this date rule feature to let you configure that. https://docs.librephotos.com/docs/user-guide/settings/date-rules

Problem is... IT DOESN'T FUCKING WORK!!!
2023-10-23
Looks like #librephotos is all done scanning so...

ALL MY ACTUAL PHOTOS DON'T HAVE TIMESTAMPS! REALLY??
2023-10-23
They need to fix their docs page, can't see the whole table even if I zoom out. #librephotos

So looks like #librephotos doesn't have the ability to share particular photos or albums with a unique url like you'd expect, instead you can set photos as either "public" or "private" and the public photos all show up on your public page. https://photos.owo69.me/user/me/

Which is nice but there might be times when you want to share an album of private photos with someone, I guess you're out of luck in that case
