After a bit of a break, I am glad to finally be releasing some new material. This is the third collaboration between myself, and Rojinski.

Journeys to an End presents a life in three acts: Tundra, Ocean, Meadow. A winding trek from bleak to peace.

Headphones are recommended.

#LinuxMusicians, help me out please?

I'm after a DAW or MIDI sequencer that does

  1. step entry from the keyboard
  2. where note length can be defined by the arrow keys

Specifically, I'm looking for Musicator style input, where a key on the MIDI instrument is held and by default produces the selected note length - say an eighth - and tapping the right arrow key while the keyboard key is held will extend the length of the note - for example one right arrow tap will make the eighth a crotchet.

Anyone got anything for me, or am I back to Try Every DAW Or Use Ancient DOS Software?

If you happen to be around in Belgium someday, we can catch up.
Thanks to Raboof for sharing and Jarle for designing 👌👍

Who's making music on ? Is it realistic to replace a with a Linux machine in a recording studio? Does it play nice with external devices? I've had some experience with , I'm aware that it's not as user friendly but it seemed to work well "in the box", at least. Thoughts? appleinsider.com/articles/25/0

Continuing the collection of my six favorite releases to have worked on, for #BandcampFriday I want to highlight my latest one. A collaboration with vocal artist (and wonderful human being) Dancing Deadlips. Having been a big fan of her work for years, I jumped at the opportunity to work with her, and am happy to report that we now have a full album in the works.gmslater.bandcamp.com/track/en

Continuing the list of my six favorite releases to have worked on over the years (in no particular order):

This one from my project The Elderbranch Campaign could well be my number one. Everything about it seemed to fall into place effortlessly.

Continuing the list of my favorite six albums (in no order) to have released over the years.

This one is the 11th (and most likely final) one from my project The Elderbranch Campaign.

An interpretation of how sheep, pigs, and dogs would express themselves musically, including highly manipulated field recordings of each, for their associated track.

Since I just transferred to this instance from another, I thought I should reintroduce myself:

I am a cinematic dark ambient and experimental electronic musician in Northern Colorado USA.

In addition to those genres, I also love a large variety of others, including post-punk, slowcore, shoegaze, neo-folk, all varieties of metal, etc.

In addition to music, I am a Linux/computer geek, and overall tech-nerd.

As a well-known organ snob, I endorse this free, cross platform (incl. Linux) software. It sounds fantastic, looks good and has a very nice, clean expression to it.

@Matjoe Maybe we #linuxmusicians should get together and see if we can actually create such a #taskforce. Eventually some of the vendors who are already successfully offering #linuxaudio products should be on board as well. After all, the team at #bitwig, #uhe or #tal could maybe help lead the way. 🤔

Dear #linuxmusicians, #linuxaudio heroes! 🤩
Do you think we should offer our time to #plugin #vendor (s) for free to help them port their plugins to #linux?
I've always done so in the past.
I also wonder if we should form some kind of consortium to proactively offer support to vendors.
But from my own experience, and depending on the situation, it can quickly become a lot of work.
What are your thoughts on this?

The good people at @audiothing continue to port all their #plugins to #linuxaudio. Today I got notified that now SR-88, an analogue #drummachine, is available to #linuxmusicians as well! 🥳️

#linuxmusicians and #ardour users i summon you!

How far has the DAW come in terms of MIDI management?
I've heard it was a tad clunky a few years ago. Has it been improved ? (Or maybe it was feom the start)

Are there who wanted to use PaulXStretch on Linux as a plugin in DAW?

It wasn't working, at least on Wayland, and I've tried upgrading the JUCE version to the latest. It seems to work now, but I'm not really using Linux for music production anymore, so maybe there is someone who'd like to check it as well?
