#Apple should get back in the server business but this time for the #selfhosted communiy. A sligtly modified #macmini with sfp+ but what OS would it run? macOS Server?
A rock solid unix without a rendered GUI. The GPU capabilities would be used to #selfhost AI workloads on an IP service, running in a #container. Could also be used for transcoding workloads.
Well or maybe #Asahi #Linux would be an eve better alternative. I somehow need the advantages of Linux.

Moj #macmini late 2012 i7 16GB 250SSD i 1T HDD zimny jak głaz. Od dawna patrzyłem z tęsknota na nowego miniaka zwłaszcza od czasu M4 i może teraz?
Myślę że 512GB spokojnie mi starczy ale RAM oczywiście minimum 16 ale czy to będzie future proof?
Może ktoś ostatnio kupował? Oczywiście miło by mieć 24GB RAM ale u aplą to w cenie mirry… Nie wiem czy to mi nie będzie leżało odłogiem.
Od jakiegoś czasu to u mnie raczej przeglądanie Internetu ale przez te chyba 8 lat jak go miałem to było ze intensywnie Java i Python. Teraz takie czasy że może trzeba by po te ejaje sięgnąć.
Laptop u mnie raczej nie ma sensu. Zwykle mój tablet wystarcza do szybkiego oblatania stron. Mam fajną klawe i trackballa nie będę się miział z laptopem.
Z drugiej strony kurde będę potrzebował przelotek na stare USB (trackball, słuchawki, dysk zewnętrzny i pewnie jeszcze inne zabawki).
W Macu może tylko padł zasilacz ale chyba nie chce mi się z tym już bawić …

I am getting to the point where I am simply using #macOS, signed into my #iCloud account, to make my 2011 #MacBook #Air a second screen for my #MacMini.
Is there any #Linux code available yet to support that? If #Apple is blocking it, the @EUCommission has just made it a legal requirement (under the #DMA) they enable it this year!
I now have an extremely minimal #Dock 😂 and have switched off all #iCloud services.
I am still logged in to my #AppleAccount, but cannot extend the screen to my #MacMini, even though everything looks like that should work. Any ideas? 🙈
I ordered a couple #MacMini computers off ebay (I'm allowed to get a little treat if it's used; I saw an anime that said so!)
One of them seems to have a mysterious button poking out of the side. I'm wondering if this is a mod, as I can't seem to find anything about it online.
Unfortunately, they did not come with power supplies, so I have to wait for those to show up to investigate further...

Nachdem hier ständig #Linux gehyped wird, dachte ich dass ich mal meinen alten #MacMini 2012 aus dem Schrank hole und aufpimpe. Naja, ganz so einfach war das dann doch nicht, Die ersten 3 Versuch u.A. mit Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish und Kubuntu gingen ins Nirwana. Mint ist dann schließlich sauber durchgelaufen 😅
A game that was only tested for #steamdeck yet is running fine on #asahi #asahifedoraremix on a #macmini #m1 is the result of the dedication of a fantastic community of contributors, and I thank them for the work making it simple to play steam games on arm linux. (yes I know I'm ram limited)
