On #ThisDayInHistory in 1968, during the #May68 events in Paris, #Marxists and #anarchists erected barricades in response to police violence on the 6th. Street battles followed, and on 13 May 2/3 of French workers began a #GeneralStrike. We must recover this spirit of defiance.

The original French production of the play was created in the early 1980's and the English-language production came in the mid-1980's, which makes me wonder how much more recent events in history (the #May68 uprising in #Paris, the defeats of #France and the #US in their respective wars in #Vietnam, etc.) also factors into this story?
