What's a good Free Android camera app that saves location data to webp images?

As I think I've mentioned already, for quite some time I'm using Open Camera's HDR mode to avoid overexposed and underexposed photos.

When I configured #OpenCamera on the new phone, I've noticed that the "UltraHDR" foramt is not supported in… HDR mode. So I've read more, and discovered that indeed there's some fancy automatic HDR+ mode that the Pixel uses when all fancy overrides are disabled.

But how to check if it actually works? So I've figured I'll install Google's stock camera app and compare the results. While configuring it, I've discovered that aside from the UltraHDR option, there's also a switch for DIsplay P3 color profile. So quite obviously, for a few days now I'm taking photos with both apps and comparing results.

Well, the files are different. The stock app photos use Display P3 color space and carry some extra HDR+ XMP metadata, while Open Camera uses sRGB. Additionally, the Google app forces JPEG quality of 95, while Open Camera defaults to 90 (and lets you change it).

And do they *look* different? Well, I wasn't able to spot any difference, no matter how hard I try (even with the JPEG quality setting difference). Perhaps it's that I lack appropriate software to see it. So I'm still torn between using the stock app that stores more precious data, or the Open Camera app that I love.

And then I've read "What is HDR, anyway?", and I got curious about the part about "good sensors have dynamic range approaching film". So perhaps I should just disable all the fancy HDR thingies, and play with RAW instead? Except now the question is: is FreeSoftware for developing raw photos in better shape than the one for HDR processing?

Jak już kiedyś wspominałem, od dłuższego czasu praktycznie stale korzystałem z trybu #HDR w #OpenCamera, by walczyć z prześwietlonymi i niedoświetlonymi zdjęciami.

Kiedy konfigurowałem Open Camera na nowym telefonie, rzuciło mi się, że format "UltraHDR" nie jest obsługiwany w trybie… HDR. No więc doczytałem, że istotnie, jeżeli powyłączam wszystkie niestandardowe ustawienia, to Pixel powinien używać jakiegoś magicznego HDR+ z automatu.

No ale teraz, jak to sprawdzić? No to pomyślałem, że zainstaluję Google'ową aplikację do aparatu i porównam. Przy okazji odkryłem, że obok ustawienia dla UltraHDR jest też opcja zmiany profilu kolorów na Display P3. Oczywisty skutek tego taki, że teraz od kilku dni już robię zdjęcia dwoma aplikacjami i porównuję.

No i cóż, ewidentnie różnica w plikach jest. Pliki ze stockowej aplikacji korzystają z przestrzeni Display P3 i mają dodatkowe metadane HDR+ w XMP, podczas gdy te z Open Camera — sRGB. Oprócz tego, stockowa aplikacja wymusza jakość JPEG 95, podczas gdy Open Camera używa domyślnie 90 (i pozwala to zmienić).

A wizualnie? Wizualnie, jakkolwiek bym się starał, nie widzę żadnej różnicy (nawet pomimo niższej jakości JPEG). Oczywiście, może to być kwestia braku właściwego oprogramowania. Więc nadal jestem rozdarty między użyciem stockowej aplikacji, która zachowuje więcej danych, a Open Camera, które zdecydowanie preferuję.

A potem przeczytałem "What is HDR, anyway?", i zaintrygował mnie fragment mówiący, że "dobre sensory mają rozpiętość tonalną podobną do kliszy fotograficznej". Więc może zamiast tego powinienem wyłączyć wszystkie magiczne HDR-y, i pobawić się z RAW? Tylko pojawia się tu pytanie, czy wolne oprogramowanie do wywoływania RAW trzyma się lepiej niż to do HDR-ów.

Ich hab mir eben endlich mal #OpenCamera (aus F-Droid) auf's Smartphone installiert und – wie geil ist das denn!? Da kann man ja echt alles einstellen!

(Vermutlich wußtet Ihr das schon. Ich bin ja nicht immer so schnell bei dem modernen Zeuch, ne.)
