The US has both funded and benefited froim superb science in the last 75 years. Those times have come to an end and the rest of the world needs to step up. Sure, it will lead to the continuing deterioration for the US economy, but they voted for it. The rest of us need to fill the gap. And benefit from that.

Was developing a killer headache this afternoon, while trying to enjoy the cooler weather with the windows open... then realized the #AQI was off the charts.

@firefly clued me in that yes, we do now have the Canadian smoke, too.

Closed back up and running all the air scrubbers, just waiting for the CO2 to increase, instead.

A terribly colorful screencap from Purple Air of North America, showing a large swath of yellows, oranges, reds and maroons starting way up by the arctic circle, and slicing down to the south-eastern US coast. People up in Saskatchewan and North Dakota certainly have it much worse than we do (some readings at 370), but the Asheville area is currently sitting at around 87 which is high enough not to want to be breathing it.

I thought the haze was fog this morning, but clearly I was very wrong.
