#Transport for #London has opened a new #accessible toilet at White Hart Lane #Overground station, with Seven Sisters to follow, as part of a £15 million, five-year investment to improve toilet access across the network. New facilities are also planned for Amersham, Clapton and Morden, while up to 12 existing toilets, including at Canary Wharf and Wembley Central, will be refurbished. An audit has identified where improvements are most needed at bus stations, supporting Transport for London's Equity in Motion strategy to make transport more inclusive. There are currently 146 TfL-managed toilets, with further facilities in non-TfL stations. Staff can advise customers on nearby options and provide access to RADAR key toilets. A Toilet Tube Map and the #TfL Go app are available to help passengers locate accessible facilities across the network.

#Arriva Rail #London (ARL) has partnered with The Talent Foundry (TTF) to support nearly 65,000 young people in 2024. TTF helps underserved communities develop employment skills and start careers. ARL colleagues volunteered for TTF’s Track to the Future programme, engaging young people across the London #Overground network. The programme aims to inspire students to pursue rail careers and build transferable skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and presentation. Over twenty ARL volunteers mentored students, with sessions covering industry issues, mock interviews, and project presentations. The ESG team identified stations facing safety and welfare challenges, ensuring the programme targeted areas that would benefit most. ARL is committed to running the programme again in Enfield from April to June 2025, continuing its focus on community impact and skills development.

#Transport for #London (#TfL) has announced a ban on non-folded e-bikes across its transport network, effective 31 March 2025, following safety concerns. While most #ebikes are safe, there have been incidents where non-folding e-bikes caught fire on the network. The ban will apply to the #Tube, #Overground, Elizabeth Line, and #DLR, but foldable e-bikes will still be allowed. TfL’s review, in collaboration with the London Fire Brigade, found that conversion kits for standard cycles pose a higher fire risk. Non-folding e-bikes are already banned on buses and trams. Exceptions include the Woolwich Ferry, river services, and certain coach services. TfL is working with the government to improve e-bike safety. Customers not complying with the ban may face fines up to £1000. TfL is the first #UK operator to enforce such a ban.

#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release:
On-board Passenger Information Displays for Class 345, Class 710 and B23 trains
There is no official design standard for the displays, as they comply with The Rail Vehicle Accessibility (Non-Interoperable Rail System) Regulations 2010, which can be found online. For the Class 710, key documents related to technical specifications and accessibility are available online or for purchase, including #EU regulations on #accessibility and rolling stock, and various European standards on PRM use and train voice systems. The dimensions of the displays on the Class 710 are 700mm x 132mm. Regarding the Class 345, its design standard is intellectual property owned by Alstom, which has objected to its release, citing commercial concerns and potential legal action. However, an alternative design guide for the Class 345, a #TfL-owned document, is available, detailing changes to reflect the #Overground line renaming.

When I see the colours of the new versions (same, but separate) of the #London #overground lines, which are too similar to other #tube lines’ #colours I wonder if more than person on the team there is also hecking annoyed that they didn’t find more distinct colours out of the many available. What the heck happened, were they legally restricted to a limited palette or did they just not notice?

It's #PhotoMonday today! (And the first in 2025.) This time, a photograph of a bench at an #overground station I took a while ago actually.
