Mit Ventoy erstellst du einen USB-Stick, auf dem du beliebig viele Linux-ISOs speichern und direkt starten kannst.

Noch flexibler geht es mit iVentoy – starte Linux-Distributionen im gesamten Netzwerk per PXE-Boot, ganz ohne USB-Stick. Ich erkläre Einrichtung, DHCP-Settings und mache ein Live-Demo in einer VM.

@cesarpose @mrmasterkeyboard depends on the model and #hp has something more sinister:

• In many #ProBook|s they literally do a "soft" #VendorLock re #RAM, so if the stick's ain't hp-branded (as per SPD-EEPROM) the #UEFI will brick #UnattendedBoot, #UnattendedReboot & #PXEboot by popping up an error message every boot that needs to be dismissed by hitting F1 on the internal keyboard (!!!) and can't be dismissed permanently.

I literally had this with a client in the past and it's the reason a #refurbisher I know didn't offer RAM-#Upgrades for HP machines at all…

They literally #brick #PXEboot on #ProBook|s when you have any non-hp - branded #RAM sticks installed.

Introducing my lap. To the left you’ll see the top. Only downside is that it’s HDD cable has broken off and I have to use USB’s. Currently installing Windows Server 2022 to the USB plugged in at the right manually via a PXE server on my big desktop just being cut off in the pic. Planning to repurpose this lap(top) to be a server. I would install Linux but I’ve never messed with Windows Server before so why not! 🤷‍♂️

Just in case anyone is still listening: I'd like to boot #grub2 over #pxe and chain to #OpenBSD #pxeboot. pxechainloader appears to load the image fine, but system crashes when it's started. Suggestions? Problem passing the PXE runtime environment, perhaps?
