This was my entry into the #PeculiarRobotContest

It's one thing to build a weird looking robot, but for me it should also have some purpose, so I imagined a rock paper scissors carnival robot that somehow got ahold of a knife instead of a balloon prize. It clacks around an abandoned pier looking for someone to play a game.

Let's are based on the #Strandbeests , or wind walker design by Theo Jansen.

A set of five cliff models. They are wargaming terrain and scaled for approximately 28mm models. Each one is about 12" long by 6" deep, with a height of about 3". They're painted in dark brown with pink dust highlighting. The central cliff features a yellow, rusty shipping container.

I've slowly been accumulating cardboard boxes for use building terrain. Today I got a chance to do some building and use up some of the pile so I built the frame for a SciFi shipping container.

A little bit of fathers day terrain making with help from the kids. Added a bit of texture to the plaster hills using rocks, sand and PVA.

One large and three small hills constructed from plaster bandages, cardboard packaging and spackle.

Sand and rocks have been glued down with PVA to give the appearance of rock slides.

Got a bit of time to work on some terrain. Took a bit of packaging from a kettle and padded it out with some tissue paper I had laying about before laying plaster bandages over it.

The packaging has a nice texture to it, so this should turn out as a hill with ruins protruding out of it.

The packaging from a kettle glued down to a thin piece of MDF. The packaging has been cut away in places to create a larger flat area in the centre and green tissue paper has been arranged to create a substructure for the next step.

The same item from before, but with plaster bandages layered over it. The green tissue paper is entirely covered to create several gentle slopes leading up whilst the cardboard protrudes put with a rocky texture that resembles some kind of ruin.

Three smaller pieces. Two are very simple rocks rising from the ground whilst the last has two offcuts from the packaging protruding from it to create the impression of buried ruins.

Momentan ist ja nicht viel los.. Aber eingemummelt sitzen, Zeug streamen und Schindeln schnitzen geht. XD

Da bekommt meine Stabkirche (⬆️ siehe Thread) wohl endlich mal mehr Dach. Es ist schon mehr als die Hälfte, minimal... aber mehr als die Hälfte. XD

This one was actually finished a while back, but has been waiting on my shelf waiting for me to do some final detailing on it.

But I've decided to call this one done as it is. It actually looks pretty good and that makes room to make a few more like it to help fill out the table.

And they're done. NCB 16t Steel & Wooden bodied Hoppers complete. Handrails all made with supports. Steps added as these had one at each corner, rather than the usual non brake lever end.

Tonight’s task: scratch-building some sleeper extensions and footboards for the point levers.

This is the first time I’ve actually tried anything like this in a long time. I’ve no dimensions to work from - just winging it a bit. Looks okay though.
