Found some rings I prepped years ago. Figured it was finally time to deburr them and link them together. Just making a little #chainmail patch as a fidget toy. Think next time I'll buy some rings instead of making them though, way too much work!

Gestern nach 9 Monaten endlich mal wieder ein Nähprojekt in Angriff genommen. Stoff für eine Jeans zugeschnitten und dann gemerkt, dass ich mein einziges Schnittmuster ohne Nahtzugabe erwischt hatte.
Ich hätte also mit einem Zentimeter Abstand um das Schnittmuster herumschneiden müssen. MIST! Wer denkt, der eine Zentimeter sei doch nicht so schlimm, der irrt, denn bei einem Hosenbein kommt damit ein um vier Zentimeter kleinerer Umfang zustande. Das kann ich nicht weghungern.
Ich guck dann mal die Tage, ob ich noch was retten kann.

Hobby update #part 2 - Thor’s Helmet 🔭

A recent astrophotography project: NGC 2359, better known as *Thor’s Helmet*, an emission nebula located in the constellation Canis Major, about 12,000 light-years from Earth and roughly 30 light-years across.

The nebula is shaped by the extreme stellar winds of the Wolf–Rayet star WR7 at its center. These rare, massive stars are incredibly hot and lose huge amounts of material through powerful winds. WR7 is believed to be in a relatively short-lived evolutionary phase before eventually ending its life as a supernova. 💥

The distinctive “helmet” shape forms where those winds collide with surrounding gas and a nearby molecular cloud, creating the curved bow-shock structures visible in the image.

Für einiges mag das jetzt ein „ach nee?“ Moment sein, für mich war das am Wochenende eine kleine „Erleuchtung“. Auch wenn ich, bei näherer Betrachtung, es eigentlich schon immer wusste beziehungsweise ahnte.

Ich kann kein Multitasking. Schon gar nicht im Hobby.

Andere mögen simultan Social Media, Video, Hörbücher und sonst etwas parallel machen können, ich nicht.

Wenn ich Miniaturen bemalen will, dann ist das höchste der Gefühle Musik oder eine  Podcast hören oder eine TV Serie laufen lassen, die ich Auswendig kenne und die Bilder nicht sehen brauche.

Kurz: alles, was meine Augen ablenkt ist nicht für den Fortschritt im Hobby brauchbar. Ich hänge dann einfach am bewegten Bild fest und die Farbe trocknet auf dem Pinsel und nicht auf der Mini.

Wenn ich mir das jetzt nur immer vor halte, dann schaffe ich vielleicht auch mehr Hobby. Muss ich nur vorher die Bilderflut abschalten.

Spring is around the corner so I am looking into getting back to BMX riding.

So naturally I had to research and worry about a bunch of things at 1 AM such as should I use or rather remove my brakes or install a gyro or other stupid stuff before I even pulled the bike out of the garage.

"Oh but I won't be able to do tailwhips" shut up bro, you can't even bunny hop properly yet.

#hobby update post 🔭

Another recent hobby project I finally had some time to process. It’s been a while since my last; busy, no good conditions and some other stuff.

This is Jones-Emberson 1 (PK 164+31.1), also known as the Headphone Nebula. It’s a very faint planetary nebula in the constellation 🌌 Lynx, located about 1600 light-years away.

Planetary nebulae are the final stage of medium-mass stars like our Sun. The outer layers are expelled while the core collapses into a hot blue-white dwar, which in this case is an extremely faint 16.8 magnitude central star.

What makes this target interesting for astrophotography is its very low surface brightness. Even though the nebula spans a relatively large area of the sky, the emitted light is extremely faint, making it a challenging object to capture and process.

Always amazing to realize that the light captured here started its journey around the time the Roman Empire was still expanding. 🌌
