Yes, stay clear as long as you can, their systems are appalling. But must stress frontline staff in offices have always been desperately overloaded but helpful and courteous.
My problem is that #Centrelink and #Shopfront in #Belconnen where I live have no adjacent car park or even dropping off point without walking quite a distance. I have to be driven then walk with walker and now it is painful and very slow. Mostly I manage fine w most things but this just really got to me.😉

#ThrowbackThursday #TBT Sooooo ... apparently I took this photo 16 years ago today. 😂 And I can't believe Chuck Norris is still around, that old racist goat. We should probably come up with a new legend who's more deserving of those cool "XYZ counted to infinity. Twice." jokes. 🤔
Anyway, it was my second business trip shortly after starting my very first job post-graduation. My boss and I went to #Canada to meet clients and since he didn't speak English, I got to tag along. We were in Mississauga, but were so busy meeting everyone that we didn't even manage to visit either Toronto or the Niagara Falls. 🥲 But the people were lovely, the weather was freezing, and it was the first of many successful business trips for me.

The exterior of a Lube n’ Go service centre, identifiable by its prominent green and white signage. The building features a large sign reading "World’s Fastest Oil Change", alongside another sign boasting "Warranty Approved". A bold, green Lube n’ Go logo with the slogan "Extreme Speed" is displayed above the entrance, while another sign on the building reads "Faster than Chuck Norris" and includes the website www.lubengo.ca.

In the foreground, a white pickup truck and a small, custom-painted golf cart—both branded with the Lube n’ Go logo and contact details—are parked in front of the building. The golf cart features a vibrant flame design. The scene is set in a snowy environment, with patches of snow visible on the ground and vehicles, suggesting a cold, wintry day.

A classic example of a modern ground floor shopfront not doing justice to the architecture above it. This is 208 Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. Constructed in 1902, it was designed in a over-the-top Free Classical style by James Thomson. This photo was taken a couple of years ago, so things may have changed since then.

I find this disused shop near to where I live very romantic #shopfront #photography #automobile #london

A Victorian shop rather decayed. It says fantasy tattooing. The window panes are pink blue and green. A rusting 1950s American Cadillac style car is parked in front. The whole thing looks dusty and shabby but kind of gorgeous

Nice fading fascia for M.Y. Oswald revealed in Edinburgh.

NB. The article suggests there are multiple layers, but the words that they describe as being in palimpsest are all part of Oswald signs: confectioner, tobacconist, & newsagent.

Castle Street Reflections

When I was out with Blarney Photography Club during the summer, we headed into town one evening. Love the reflection. Thanks Rodney for the idea!

Castle Street in Cork gets its name from the medieval Cork Castle that once stood nearby, though no trace of the original Norman fortification remains today. The street has been a commercial thoroughfare for centuries and is now part of Cork’s main shopping area. The Mannix name has deep roots in Cork, with the family having been involved in various businesses in the city for generations. Mannix & Culhane closed their doors earlier this year for the last time. I don’t think I ever went into either of their shops.

This fun and fabulous window mural for theLAB in Porto was hand-painted by André Caetano. The artwork celebrates São João festival, held every June. I love the dragon!

This lettering is fun with it's use of rune writing as inspiration (straight lines), integrated with curves and untypical placement of gaps.

The Still Game-themed artwork on this shopfront on Butterbiggins Road in the Govanhill area of Glasgow made me smile, especially the poem above the entrance, which you'll recognise if you're a fan of the show.

I love that more and more Glasgow businesses are using hand-painted signage which is much more in-keeping with the traditional Glaswegian architecture. This really enhances the local streetscapes.
