Hay una cosa que me acabo de dar cuenta y no deja de molestarme.

Uno de los 'mentores' de Kay Vess es una experta en entrar en sistemas informáticos de Star Wars (aquí es todo HW, pero bueno) y en las misiones y tal no dejan de llamarla 'hacker'.

Es lo suyo, pero el problema es que los 'hackers' en Star Wars se llaman 'SLICERS', porque 'cortan' a través de los cifrados y protecciones.

entiendo el por qué de una decisión así, pero hubiera dejado el término con el que los fanses de SW están familiarizados, por ayudar al worldbuilding... pero que sabré yo?

<p>Dy default, the slicing software used for 3D printers has the printer first create the walls around the edges of a print, then goes back to deposit the infill pattern. [NeedItMakeIt], however, experimented with a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59KvDE7adEU" target="_blank">different approach to line placement</a>, and found significant strength improvements for some filaments.</p>
<p>The problem, as [NeedItMakeIt] identified with a thermal camera, is that laying down walls around a print gives the extruded plastic time to cool of. This means new plastic is being deposited onto an already-cooled surface, which reduces bonding strength. Instead, he used an aligned rectilinear fill pattern to print the solid parts. In this pattern, the printer is usually extruding filament right next to the filament it just deposited, which is still hot and therefore adheres better. The extrusion pattern is also aligned vertically, which might improve inter-layer bonding at the transition point.</p>
<p>To try it out, he printed a lever-type test piece, then recorded the amount of force it took to break a column free

I’m about to do my first 3D prints, what’s the best #slicer for Linux? I’ve heard of #PrusaSlicer (C++/WxWidgets) and #Ultimaker #Cura (Python/QML), do you have any recommendation?

(If there was an official Linux release, I’d start with PrusaSlicer by default, but I’m wondering if it’s worth the trouble to build it from source as it relies on an unstable version of WxWidgets…)

Anyone have recommendations for a resin printer slicer that:

1) works on LMDE w/o needing Wine, and
2) supports the Elegoo Mars 4?

PrusaSlicer works natively on Linux, but doesn’t have a profile for the Mars 4. SatelLite doesn’t have a Linux version and seemingly fails to slice when I run it through Wine.

@riskable so, I tested it and indeed in the #slicer the hole is smaller, but it's not nearly as small as in the real printed item.
I've got 2mm in Cura, 1.6mm in the slicer and about half as that in the real item. So, it's probably a combination of the slicer and my printer that cause the issue.
My question is: how do I make a design shareable? What should I expect from other people with other printers and slicers printing my same design?

I don't know this field in depth, but I've been told by some practitioners that the dominant providers of slicer software for resin printers are taking advantage of their privileged position and feeding user's 3d designs into training AI models... so a strong open source alternative might be needed.
