🌌 Einstein’s Speed Limit Survives Its Toughest Test!
Scientists measured light from a massive gamma-ray burst 7 billion light-years away, pushing the speed of light to its limits. The result? It remained constant, as predicted by Einstein over a century ago.
Special relativity prevails.

Thomas (15) and Vincent (13) are two brothers. One day they decide to run away from a broken home. They land on a small island off the South Coast of England to escape their current reality.

On the island they discover a huge, derelict and abandoned warehouse and they are on their way to explore it with only a lighter. G1 is a small time crook, who lives inside a washroom in the abandoned warehouse. G1 believes that he has a girlfriend and dreams of her. Jenia is a young girl, 22, mean and vulgar. She has spent most of her life inside a housing estate. G1 often dreams about his girlfriend and some of his dreams occurring at the speed of light cross the boundaries between dream and reality. One such moment is an intimate sex scene between the two protagonists that may or may not have been real. The two brothers arrive in the warehouse one fine day in the summer and remain there until the early hours of the next day. Exhausted after a long, frantic and scary search for some adventure from the basement to the top floor, they fall asleep on the stairs. Later they bump into G1. From then on the nightmare begins.

Engadget: Someone made a ‘camera’ that can shoot at two billion frames per second. “Brian Haidet, a scientist creating videos on YouTube under the handle AlphaPhoenix, showed off a camera in a new video that can capture footage of a laser pointer at the speed of light. The camera is an update on a previous design that could capture footage at one billion frames per second, but it comes with a […]

What is the velocity of light in a given metric for an observer infinitely far away?

This was easier than I though following the PSE answer cited above:
miamao.de/blog/Speed_of_Light_

Not sure yet what to make from it. The interesting bit would be the speed of light for a point under the influence of several sources of gravity. I expect that the speed of light may be zero even if the individual sources are not black holes.🤔

What is the velocity of light in Schwarzschild metric at distance 𝑟 for an observer that is infinitely far away?

I got an answer: physics.stackexchange.com/a/86 and was embarrassed how easy it was.

It wets the appetite for more: Given any metric, what is the velocity of light for an infinitely far away observer? The first trivial step is shown in the formula.

Does the lazyweb have a hint before I turn to PSE again? (Boosts appreciated.)

LaTeX formula for general metric divided by dt^2:
-g_{00} =
  \frac{g_{ij}dx^i dx^j}{dt^2} + 2  \sum_{i=1}^3 \frac{g_{0i} dx^i}{dt}
  \qquad i,j\in\{1,2,3\}

The speed of light is nearly inconceivable. But for the first time, physicists have simulated what objects moving near the speed of light would look like — an optical illusion called the Terrell-Penrose effect. @LiveScience has more:
