Hey @starlabssystems, do you know that #Gnome Firmware is still stuck at 25.02 for the #starlite5 while the current release is 25.05?

This afternoon it looks like the wifi on my #StarlabsSystems #Starlite5 has broken. As soon as it tries to connect to a wifi network, the wifi crashes.

It's not https://github.com/StarLabsLtd/firmware/issues/269, though it looks similar — this is with a later kernel version in Fedora, and a much earlier kernel version in an Ubuntu live session.

So it seems to be a hardware problem. I've only had this laptop 10 months.

Tried updating my @starlabssystems #Starlite5 to #Fedora #Silverblue 42.

Wifi doesn't appear at all; the Aeroplane Mode toggle appears for a flash every couple of seconds, but there's no wifi.

And since upgrading to Silverblue 41, every startup has taken several minutes. Resuming from suspend doesn't always work. There's no way to make the media keys be normal F1-F12 keys.

(Meanwhile my 2012 ThinkPad has none of these problems.)

Is this normal for a tablet designed for Linux?

Do I have to throw it away once Fedora 41 is end-of-life?

I didn't expect hardware support to get gradually worse, and if I'd known I wouldn't be able to upgrade past a certain version, I would never have bought it.

I have a @starlabssystems Starlite MK V and I want Gnome to go into the "Tablet" mode whenever I fold the keyboard to the back (deactivate keyboard and open the on screen keyboard). It seems like there is no intended way how to do that therefore I wrote a small workaround.

Does anyone have a better idea?

I just started watching a Movie on @starlabssystems #starlite5 and it's great. Good picture, good sound, good performance.

I've also found a workaround for the delayed suspend until the fix lands upstream in the Linux kernel.

Looks like it will be a wholly pleasant experience soon.

Got my @starlabssystems #StarliteMkV #starlite5 tablet, sadly I wont be able to test it until after Christmas.

I am happy to finally have it and can't wait to set it up for productive (and unproductive) working. :-)

@starlabssystems I'm running @EndeavourOS - Arch based Distro - with @gnome since the first day (directly re-installed) on my #StarLite5. After: switch to current LTS linux (6.6.x - requires rotation fix from your wiki), update to newest firmware (24.7) my system runs pretty good and stabile.
fwupd is showing bios update after 24.7 was released
Boot timeout issue solved with: systemctl mask dev-tpmrm0.device
